I have syphilis. Help titers went up

Im sitting here shaking scared. My anxiety is through the roof. I found out I had syphilis during first prenatal visit in june 2020. Titer was 1:64  did 3 shots one week apart. I gave birth 5 weeks early at the end of nov. Titer then was 1:1. At my 6 week postpartum check up it was 1:32. There is no way i can be reinfected as i did not have sex. Do i have neurosyphilis? Ive been having severe anxiety since giving birth. And maybe the syphilis has something to do with it. I just went and got retested today.  Im scared that i now may have hiv and or neurosyphilis and why my titers are going up as again there is absolutely no pissible way of reinfection.  Plus i should have been adequately treated considereing i had secondary syphilis and got 3 shots. My last hiv blood test was done 4 months after last possible exposure is it conclusive? What can be causing this  rpr titers to increase again in 6 weeks.

So first, your HIV is conclusive at 4 months. You do not have HIV.

Pregnancy totally messes with syphilis testing, so I'm hoping that they have confirmed all these tests with other tests. If you had a positive RPR, for example, they should do a confirmatory test after that to make sure these are accurate.

I can't tell you if you have neurosyphilis or not - only testing can determine that. It's not likely with secondary syphilis, as neurosyphilis happens when people have untreated syphilis for many, many years. Do you have an idea of when you were infected?

Please talk to your doctor about your post-partum anxiety. That is just as serious as post-partum depression. I would be surprised if syphilis is causing your anxiety, and not having just given birth, but your doctor can sort that out. Just talk to him/her about it. Whatever the cause, treatment in the form of counseling and/or meds can be really helpful. Remember that your mental health is just as important as your physical health.

You have so much going on, and I wish I had more definitive answers for you. Let's see what today's test says, and see if you can find out of the tests you've been given have been confirmed. This could just be a treatment failure, which is rare but does happen.

Hang in there and be kind to yourself.

I had to have gotten syphilis in from one encounter on feb 11. My current partner is negative. Has been just got retested 2 weeks ago and still negative. Its for sure syphilis. Tested on confirmation test for trepenols. I never got a sore that i could see but by the time i found out during my pregnancy 4 months later I started developing sores on my chest and arm. Secondary syphilis. Was beyond adrquately treated and then some. Because it was within 4 months of getting syphilis I technically should have had 1 shot. I just dont understand how my rpr titer increased form 1:1 to 1:32 in 6 weeks when i didnt have sex since birth. And current partner has tested negative 3 times over a period of 6 months. I got tested for hiv And syphylis on june 9. Almost 4 months after the exposure  but im still ubcertain. As dr said it could take 6 months in some people. The hiv was negative then but im still scared. Im having terrible panic attacks and am on an antidepressent for possible postpartum depression and anxiety. However im still getting daily panic attacks. Also my blood pressure keeps going high today when rpr retest. My blood pressure was 180/130 they took it 4 times and told me to breathe and eventually it went down. To 130/85. This syphilis is add8ng more stress then i already need to my anxiety levels. Im constantly feeling like there is something wrong with me and im dying and feeling hear palpitations that send me into a frenzy. I have called 911 6 times since 2 weeks after giving birth. I just hope this goes away soon thank you for your reply.
Health department today tested rpr titers and hiv but will have to wait for results. They decided to see if the numbers are still going up then to retreat.

Neurosyphilis apparently can happen at any stage of infection more comon in hiv infected individuals. But can happen to hiv negative.

Im just scared!! Im tired of living in this constant fear.
Does your doctor know that you are still having this much panic and anxiety even on the meds? Whatever medication you're on is either not strong enough or it's not the correct med for you.

Yes, neurosyphilis can happen at any stage, but it's unlikely in earlier infections. If you had the rash, you were in secondary syphilis, which you know. The rash appears from 2 to 8 weeks after the chancre develops and sometimes before it heals. Even if you miss the chancre sore - which happens a lot as it's painless, the chancre appears by 90 days at the latest, usually around 3 weeks. At the latest, you'd get the rash around 6 months.

If you were infected Feb. 11 and got the rash 4 months later, and then got treatment, it's very unlikely that you have developed neurosyphilis. You can ask to be tested for it, though.

Listen, you've been through a lot in a year - you went through a pregnancy in a pandemic, with syphilis, and had a preemie - and that's just what I know about. Any one of those things is super stressful. Combined, and I think I'd want to be in a padded room.

You don't have to fear HIV - those tests are absolutely conclusive.

There is a doctor who is the absolute expert in syphilis, Dr. Edward Hook. He literally wrote a book on syphilis. He answers questions at The American Social Health Association, but there is a $25 charge. If you can afford that, I think he'd be able to help. If you want to wait until after you get your results from today, that may make sense. You get one question and 2 follow ups, so make sure to include that your tests were confirmed, and all important dates, when you got the rash, etc., in your original question.

If you can't afford that, I'll be happy to help however I can. If you decide to ask Dr. Hook, my feelings will not be hurt. I just want what's best for you, and what will provide you the best info and comfort.

The sores on your chest and arms, what did they look like
