So I'm overseas, and its tough to find a doctor for cheap around here.
I suspect I contracted Chlamydia during another over-seas trip that just finished in mid August (I did have unprotected sex on this trip). When I returned, I had a persistent sore throat, slight vaginal itching, diarrhoea, and changes to my discharge (slightly thick, yellowish, with tiny brown/green lumps). I had some azithromycin prescribed to me for diarrhoea from my doctor before I came overseas, to use in case of illness/travellers diarrhoea and inability to see a doctor.
I looked up the uses of azithromycin and saw that it could be taken for chlamydia. Unfortunately at that time I didn't read the prescribed dose, so I took 1000mg in the way that is recommended for travellers diarrhoea, two 250mg tablets Day 1, Day 2 + 3 one 250mg tablet. At this point I was feeling better, my sore throat is gone and the unusual discharge and itching has stopped. Day 3 I felt very nauseous and my diarrhoea came back, so then on Day 4 (today) I looked into the dosage more clearly, and realized its a one pop situation (1000mg one day) so I took my last two 250mg tablets.
Does anyone know if this will still work?
I have ordered more azithromycin (I will continue to travel and would hate to get stuck with travellers diarrhoea and no doctor or meds) should I retake the dosage (properly)? or will I become immune to the antibiotic, requiring a new type of medication?
