Is oral sex safe?

I checked online and found that oral sex is not safe. You can get some STDs like chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, hsv, hpv etc. but when I talked with some guys, it seems many guys have been doing it, either getting or giving, but none of them have never got any STDs from it.
I am confused. Is oral sexy safe from STDs?
How high are the risks?
Thanks

This is one of the most commonly asked questions (or variations of it) on this website.  Oral sex is much safer than unprotected vaginal or anal sex but there is still some risk, mostly for Gonorrhea or NGU.  NGU is inflammation of the urethra that is NOT caused by Gonorrhea.  Sometimes the causes of NGU are never identified (I can personally vouch for that) and there is a theory that in SOME cases it could be caused from normal oral bacteria.
In summation, there's less risk but there is some risk.  No one can tell you how much because you could give or receive oral sex from 1000 people and never be infected with anything or you could unlucky with your very first encounter.  If in doubt, protect yourself.  Jeez, I never thought about this sort of thing when I was 17!!

Thanks!
Which oral sex is more risky: receiving or giving? Seems giving is less risky because your saliva can kill some bacteria? Just wondering. Thanks
There are different risks for each.

If you have a penis, receiving oral puts you at risk for genital herpes type 1, syphilis, gonorrhea and NGU.

If you have a vagina, receiving oral puts you at risk for genital herpes type 1, syphilis and gonorrhea.

If you perform oral sex on a penis, you are at risk for oral gonorrhea and syphilis.

Performing oral sex on a vagina puts you at risk for oral gonorrhea and syphilis, though the risk is lower than performing oral on a penis.

HPV can be transmitted orally, but the real concerns of that are oral cancers, and those are rare.

Generally speaking, performing or receiving cunnilingus (oral sex on a vagina) is less risky than fellatio (oral sex on a penis). This is because a penis is inserted into the mouth and throat, making infection more likely.

Oral sex on anyone is less risky than vaginal or anal sex.

That’s really what I wanted to know. Thank you so much!
You're welcome :)
