Mycoplasma genitalium

After looking Online for info about m gen there is a lot of conflicting information. Almost every std site and government info site says the m gen can be acquired though oral sex. However, if you read the scientific literature, it says that the have not been able to detect it in the throat of people. Most notably sex workers and men who have sex with men. I have also read on the expert forum on this website and in 2014 Dr Hunter Mansfiled has also said that oral transmission is not possible and has never been documented. Why would all the other websites say this. Is it just to scare people into practising safe sex or have I missed something.

I caught MG through oral sex. I used a condom for vaginal sex and the condom was intact throughout. I know others too who have caught MG through oral. I've been struggling for last 4 months to get rid of MG. Been on 2 months of Antibiotics - tried Clarithromycin, Levofloxacin and Azithromycin. MG PCR results have been pos, neg, pos and then neg again. Symptoms however remain. I've tested negative for all other STDs. Never imagined how painful MG could be. I wish I had known before - would not have had indulged in paid sex. Be careful.

Dr hunter has replied you quite clearly. If there is one percent chance he would have expressed it. I do believe in what Dr hunter says.
