Painful Urination - infection in both eyes. chlamydia , or gonorrhea

Hello,
I really need some help here, It seems that I have some sort of infection in my eyes, and now might have a serious issue with my eye sight, as well as a possible  STD.
In the past month I have had protected sex with a condom , and unprotected oral sex ( I received blow jobs)  with 3 women.
Here's the chain of events:

Nov 27 - right eye gets inflamed and has discharge this happens really fast.
Nov 27- I go to urgent care DOC ,and he immediately thinks it's pink eye. Gives me antibiotic drops ( vigamox), and Bactrium DS.
Nov 28 - Eye gets worse. swells shut, and is painful.
Nov 29. I go and see an eye expert, this doc can't figure out what it is, as I have no other symptoms. Thinks its viral, then might also think that it is bacterial. Doc takes me off all MEDS.
Nov 30th. Swelling goes down slightly
Dec 1 - 4th. Eyes stil have discharge, and I am put back on Vigamox, and given Avelox as a precaution. Doc actually thinks eyes are viral infection.

DEC 4th: I wake up with burning sensation in penis when I urinate. I immediately go to urgent care doc and in 5 minutes of looking at yellow spots/ discharge on my underwear, and looking at my eyes. He suggest I have reiter's syndrome  , from gonorrhea  , and or chlamydia .  They also take penis culture.
Dec 4th : i am put on Ciproflaxin, given a shot of rochepin, and doxycin.

Dec 5th : the pain in my urinary tract reduces, but is still there.
Dec 6th: I go see eye doc and tell him I now have penis discharge etc... He looks into my eye, ( wich is still very red, swollen, and inflamed -- both eyes) and Says that my cornea is now involved. I have blurred vision in one eye.

Dec 6th: Immediately the DOC prescribes  I.V. treatment of ceftriaxone , and another 10 days supply of doxycin. ciloxan ointment for the eye, and cipro drops for the eye.

I believe I was exposed around Nov 20th. But the urinary pain never showed up until Dec 4th. It wasn't until this happened that we thought the eye infection was an STD. So I have been on STD meds for 4 days. Still my eyes are infected and my penis burns when I urinate.

Today : my eye has reduced in swelling and bloodshot, but it is still bad, my vision in one eye is blurred, and I still have pai n when I urinate.
I'm on antibiotics I.V. for the next 7 days, as well as doxy for the next 7 days.

If this was chlamydia  , or gonorrhea, wouldn't it be cured by now?

What else could I have?

We're waiting on the culture from my penis to come back - it should be back tomorrow.

I've been laid up and off work for over a week, so I need to get back to normal fast. Other than pain when I urinate, and infected eyes, I'm in awesome health, I jogged 3 miles this morning, and I feel fine.

Any help would be appreciated.

I recently had anal sex with a female and she used lube. I now have symptoms- irritated meatus, meatus stuck together, burning when urinating, tested negative for all STDs. My symptoms started about a week and a half after my sexual encounter. (We had oral, vaginal and anal sex). It started as itching on tip of penis then really bad burning when urinating. Got on cipro, did not help. Have had symptoms for 8 days now. Now my L eye is bloodshot for the past 2 days and I am a little freaked out (conjunctivitis?). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

I have the same symptoms - dysuria and pink eyes. 4 days now. May I know how long did it take for the symptoms to go away?

I have exactly the same thing going on here in wonderful Schenectady, NY. Same symptoms and nearly all the same meds.  Interesting my urinary burning started first and 3 days later the eye infection started.  I am also negative for the gonorrhea, chlamydia.  Herpes test comes back this week.  My left eye is swollen and red but right eye is fine.  The painful urination lessened yesterday but is more painful today.

Meds for possible STD/Urinary infection:
Doxycyline, rocephrin, valocyclovir, pridium,

Meds for eye, prescribed by Urgent care doc: (he thought it was dermatitis)
Polymixin drops, bacitracin ointment for eyelid, prednisone, and heat packs for eyelids

My Urologist tested 3 days ago for herpes but that wont come back for another 4 days.  Im nervous to bud!!

I have a simular problem and was diagnosed as having pink eye although it is red not pink, also when I pass fluid, it can be very painful, however I have read that antibiotics and eye drops can cause the passing of fluids to be painful.
I have been taking meds for 4 days, it feels a lot less gritty and less discomfortable, but still very red expecially the left eye, done a bit of reading up on this and it depends on the person has to how fast the recovery period, I am also very fit, although would not dream of doing any excersice while on meds however frustrating it feels, just give it time the worrying will not help and only slow down your recovery period.
Let us now how you are getting on as I said I am 4 days in.
I should mention as well mine started while on my motor bike driving without eye protection, I actually felt something go in my eye.

When you were tested, were you already on antibiotics?  If you were, that could cause false negatives on the test.

Well you had protected sex-very good against HIV and had unprotected oral sex-not a risk for HIV.

why is that? don't HIV infection cause eye infections?
when the docs looked at my eyes the first time they did the test for herpes, and they say my inflammation never looked liked herpes.

I would not even begin to think about HIV.

Well, my first set of test results today came back from the penis culture.
Both for chlamydia , and  gonorrhea  came back negative.
That's right, negative.
So we're all confused and going to seek more doctors.

The pain in my urination has really chilled out, but my eye is still a complete mess.

I'm wondering what I might have? HIV ? Aids? Meningitis?  a viral infection that is just tough? no one knows right now.

This is where I say its a shame no one cultured your eye fluid.  Its amazing that no one did any real testing on your, and now you are left wondering.

I don't know about eye testing when you are on antibiotics, but ask your doctor about it.

I'll meet with the eye doctor again tomorrow, he seems to think that I have chlamydia in my eyes. My right eye is perfect vision, but my left eye is very blurry, and now has "membrane" like skins growing in it, which he says is a side effect of the eye/body fighting off the infection.
I'm just really worried about my left eye, as it makes like little or no improvement from day to day.
If my eye doc doesn't have more definitive answers for me tomorrow, I'm going to start seeking other answers I assume.

6 days of doxy should have really cleared things up and going EVERYDAY to the nurse to get IV antibiotics is wild, I figured that would work ASAP.

Have you talked with your doctor about a follow up?

Its only been 4 days, so I wouldn't expect total recovery just yet, but its a good sign that you are feeling some improvement.  If this is DGI, then the cefrtiaxone is the key medication, and you are on that.

I am sure its frustrating, because this has been going on for awhile.  Maybe a call to your doctor would help ease your mind.

what's the importance of all the water? does the antibiotics dry  you out?

I'm awaiting my test results but as of now:

It still burns when I urinate, just not as much.
And my eyes have gone down in swelling, however my left eye is still looking rough, with bloodshot/ drainage, as well as blurred vision.

To date I have been on the floowing:

Doxy for 6 days
Cipro- 1 pill  ( 5 days ago)
ceftriaxone I.V. for 4 days
rochepin 1 shot ( 5 days ago)
finished 5 days of avelox
Vigamox eye drops for 12 days
ciloxan eye drops for 3 days.

I'm starting to get scared, and am thinking that I have something way more serious, because with all these antibiotics I should totally be cured?
maybe I am getting impatient?

Well it could be from the infection or it could be from inflammation.  It could last a week or longer, give or take.

Make sure you are drinking plenty of water.

Yeah, The general doc just game me the normal gonorrhea, and chlamydia, routine. But the EYE doc freaked out when he saw some evidence of it in my cornea - and said to prevent it from being Disseminated, I needed to be put on these IV meds all week.
My eyes are starting to get better, but really slowly.
If I figure right I had this infection for a damn while, then had the spell with the eye, and a solid week after that I finally got the right meds/ showed the correct symptoms.
So it had time to develop and spread.

I contacted my partners , all of them were like WTF? But I know which one it was, and told her to get checked asap- no more drunk one nighters for me.. I'm just glad I got something curable.

After 4 days it still burns when I urinate, not as much as before, but it's still there. How long does the penile burning last usually?

Wow they are going all out, and treating you for disseminated gonorrhea .  I'll be interested to see what your test results show.

Have you talked to any of your partners?   They should be notified to get some treatment.

The I.V. antibiotics that I am on are ceftriaxone, I've been on it for 2 days.
I had a shot of rocephin just 2 days ago, so it might actually be working.....just don't know yet.

I am also on doxy right now, this is my 4th day of a 10 day regime.

I'm improving, my eyes are starting to chill out, but they are still red and inflamed.
So even though I've been dealing with this for a few weeks, I've only been on the right meds for just a few days. It still burns when I urinate, but not as bad.

You are on IV antibiotics and you went jogging?

I don't know what this is, but its a damn shame no one cultured the discharge form your eyes - that would have given an answer right then.

If it is gonorrhea (you had protected sex, and chlamydia isn't spread orally), then the timing of your symptoms is right.  You wouldn't get symptoms right away, and the average time to get symptoms is within a few weeks, give or take.

What IV antibiotics are you on?  If this was gonorrhea, the rocephin would have cured it.  If this was chlamydia, the doxy would.

Good luck, and let me know what the results say.
