STI test and pre exposure to antibiotics

I am a female and I am paranoid I have Gonorrhoea. I have had 2 tests, both returned negative. The first test was a cervical swab gram stain test, however I had the test done approx 24 hours after being prescribed with 400g of  cefditoren pivoxil and 1g Zithromax. The doctor said the test would be only 80% accurate due to the antibiotics i had already taken.

Because of this I decided to get retested 1 week after taking the antibiotics. This time I went for a PCR urine test. This also came back negative.

What I am asking is, do you think the negative result of these tests is accurate? Or will the use of antibiotics have a massive effect on the test result? I am extremely anxious that I have an STD. I didn’t have unprotected sex but had unprotected genital to genital frottage. I have pains in my stomach/left side flank but think this may be a kidney infection or anxiety.

Thanks

Why are you so paranoid about gonorrhea? All of this over frottage?

Frottage doesn't transmit gonorrhea, only penetration does. Even if you had gonorrhea, the first test, 24 hours after you took the antibiotics, would have a good chance of being accurate. I agree with your doc about it being about 80%.

A week later, I don't know - I wouldn't trust that result.

Kidney infections generally cause back pain, though that can differ a bit from person to person.

How long has it been since the encounter, and how long has it been since you took the meds?

The encounter was the beginning of December and I noticed symptoms maybe mid/end of December. The meds were took on the 14th so it’s been about 9 days. The pains only started about 3 days ago but prior to that I had more discharge that usual, however since the pains started the discharge has slowed down a lot.

I’m paranoid about gonorrhoea as I know it’s harder to treat and I made a mistake with someone whilst travelling but have a partner at home.
Gonorrhea isn't harder to treat. We have medications that cure it. Yes, there is resistance to some, but we do still have antibiotics that work very effectively.

You aren't at risk for gonorrhea from frottage.

You took meds you didn't need, but if you are ever at risk for gonorrhea, you should know that cefditoren pivoxil won't likely cure it. You'd need a shot of ceftriaxone, along with the 1gm of zithromax.

Remember that guilt doesn't equal risk. This article may help -https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2017/dec/29/stop-catastrophising-expert-guide-psychologist
Thank you for your reply. You’ve put my mind and anxiety at ease.
Glad to hear it. :)
