Confused about herpes result

So a few months ago, I got tested for herpes because a culture they did on my lips said I was positive for herpes, but it looked nothing like a cold sore, so they wanted to do a blood test to double check.  The blood test came back negative, and they told me to come back in a few months to retest. Well, I retested and I’m extremely confused about my results. They said that one of the herpes results came back positive, and the other came back negative. But they said they can’t tell me where the herpes is located. This is frustrating for me, because I would like to know which location I have it.  Wouldn’t 3-4 months be sufficient time to see where the herpes is located in my body? I’ve never had a cold sore in my life, but have been getting weird white things on my lips recently that don’t hurt or bother me at all. Could that be herpes? Or is it more likely I have it genitally and have zero symptoms? Any information would be greatly appreciated. I wish I had a definite answer to things so I could keep my loved ones safe.

Hi, usually when a culture comes back positive and the blood negative it means its a recent infection and from what your describing your herpes is oral not genital. testing at 3 months is enougth time and actually 8 weeks is a good indicator.
