Can I get more info on oral gonorrhea testing?

It's been 2 years since Ive done anything orally, but my throat has been red for a long time and I have intermittent sore throats.  I'm afraid I may have an undiagnosed oral infection.

I tested in 2018 using MyLab box Gonorrhea and Chlamydia test because no one in my area offered swab testing.  However, this test is for the vaginal area but I swabbed my throat instead.  Anyways, Mylab now offers an expensive 3 site test but I only need the oral test however they're telling me I need the 3 site to test orally.

Does an oral gonorrhea test look for different strains than a vaginal swab gonorrhea test?

Do you all know if any other reliable oral gonorrhea home testing?

I booked an appointment with a GYN.  I've been to many doctors.  The ENT said I have LPR but the redness freaks me out.  I actually got orally swabbed at my GYN in August of 2018 when I got a pap smear, but somehow I wonder if they only tested the vaginal swab.

Why don't you call and find out? Save yourself a visit and another swab and see if they ran the oral swab. If they did, and it was negative, you can put this to rest. :)

I agree. It's unlikely that you'd have oral gonorrhea for so long without it getting worse, but something is happening - maybe allergies, maybe something else - but it's time for a doctor to check it out.

The oral and genital gonorrhea aren't different strains, but the tests are run differently. If you don't have insurance, and cost is a concern, call your local health department and ask about free or low cost clinics.

Of course, when different tests are offered for different parts of the body, they are meant to be used for the designated area. I strongly discourage people from testing on their own at home. I recommend you to go to your doctor and do it there. Any gonorrhea test will be accurate 3 weeks after the exposure.
