Tingling Sensation... Serious issue or anxiety?

Okay, so I'm a 21 yo male.  I had previously been in a relationship with the same girl for 3+ years.  We broke up about a year ago, and am now finally moving on.  I've been very reluctant to participate in any sexual activity since we broke up.  I had sex with a different girl last night for the first time in my life and this afternoon I started to feel a tingling sensation at the tip of my penis.  It was unprotected sex, and I nearly immediately regretted that choice.  I am deathly afraid of contracting an STD.  I've read a few things on forums that say you don't experience symptoms from STDs within the first 24 hours of infection; however, I could not find if that covers everything, or just some STDs.  I've also read a few responses from doctors to some other questions that talked about anxiety.  Could I possibly have symptoms ~12 hours after sexual contact.  I'm starting to lean toward the idea that I am just super nervous about what happened and this is possibly just in my head.  I honestly don't know exactly what to think.  I don't experience any discomfort when I urinate, and the tingling comes and goes.

1) Are there any STDs that have onset times of symptoms within 24 hours?

2) Should I go to the doctor to get checked out?

3) Is it common to experience anxiety and just be somewhat paranoid, causing this "tingling" to come and go?

Thank you in advance for your response.

Hi I am an anxiety sufferer and it is very possible for the mind to create symptoms, honestly Ive had symptoms down there and everywhere. At this moment in time I actually cant really move my thumbs as theyre so numb but Im certain by now its anxiety, but anyway, I was going to suggest thrush to you? I gave it to my boyfriend once :s Im not sure what the symptoms are for men but the symptoms come out with 2-24 hours of sexual contact and its not a serious problem. However, I would maybe visit your local GUM clinic if you have had unprotected sex anyway and if it is anxiety when u find out theres nothing wrong the symptoms should go away.

I'd give it a few days to a week.

Thanks for the quick response!  Yeah, I just have never experienced anything of the sort so I'm sure I'm going bonkers over something that is quite unlikely.  The fact that I haven't gone more than two minutes all day without thinking about it is maybe a clue I need to try to relax a little.

Just to be sure though, if I do continue to experience these symptoms how long should I wait before I go get it checked by a physician?  Thank you so much.  This forum is a great thing!  Keep up the good work.

Hi there -

1) Are there any STDs that have onset times of symptoms within 24 hours?

No.

2) Should I go to the doctor to get checked out?

If it persists, yes.

3) Is it common to experience anxiety and just be somewhat paranoid, causing this "tingling" to come and go?

Its incredibly common.  Its all over this forum.  When you get anxious, sensations are heightened, so its common to feel things more intensely, or feel things that might not be there.

- Would this prevent any gonorrhea infection and/or chlamydia infection?  Thanks.

Yes, most likely.  :)

Just try and relax, ok?  Knowing that it isn't at all likely that you got anything from this, maybe you can relax and see if what you are feeling is anxiety or not.

Also, one more thing.  It just so happens that I am currently on medication for a toothache which I know can be used to treat gonorrhea.  I am halfway through a 7-day treatment of Amoxicillin (500mg TID).  Would this prevent any gonorrhea infection and/or chlamydia infection?  Thanks.
