Trich Life Span and Complications

I had unprotected sex with a questionable individual that I just met. I proceeded to have unprotected sex with her 3 more times after original exposure. The last time was sometime in mid to late March.

I met someone new in mid april, had sex were her unprotected in late May. Sometime in July, she started having discharge, pain during sex and some blood. She got tested for all normal things and it was negative. But was diagnosed with Trich. Now here is my conundrum.

She was also gone for a weekend with friends after we started sleeping together. I'm a paranoid individual as it is, so the potential she got this from someone else that weekend is knawing at me, since the time lines would be around the same. My questions are these...

How long can Trich stay in the male for, is it possible she got it from me and I contracted it in March?
How long can it be in the woman for and then can it suddenly out of the blue to show symptoms, she said her last unprotected exposure was three years before me.

This was in 2010

Also, we both were treated with a one dose drug, I hope it's gone.

Also, I've continued to have symptoms of periodic (On for 3 months, off for 5, then on again) warm feeling in urethra, slight burn after ejaculation and the main issue is sometimes a tickle or shooting pain for like 4 seconds inside penis, what could these signify?

And if this may help, I am 31 years old. Doctors, thank you for your answers on this, it's much appreciated.

in addition to what shaken has said - go and be seen and get a full work up done, including a prostate check. your symptoms are more consistent with a prostate issue than it is a std.

at this point you've both  been treated which is always the best course of action. Untreated trich can lead to long term complications in both males and females. You probably will never figure out the who gave it to whom. You can attempt to retest in a few months just to be sure you cleared it in case you were infected a long time but probably not worth it due to how hard it is to detect in males anyways.

Hey there

Like Jessy said, no doctors on this forum.  You need to post and pay in the expert forum.

On to you questions.  A high percentage of males  (90%) with Trich do not know they have it as their symptoms are not noticeable or so slight that they do not think anything of it.  Contrary to some of the literature out there, Trich will not clear up on it's own.  Symptoms may go away, but the Protazoa are still present and therefore an infected male left untreated can infect a female.  Therefore, you could have caught it from your previous exposure and not known it.

For women, up to 50% do not show symptoms, and they can also carry Trich around without knowing it.  When symptoms do appear, they can come on strong and "out of the blue" as you say.  It's possible she contracted it from a previous sexual encounter.  Also, there are non sexual ways of aquiring Trich as well, as it can live outside the body for a period of time.

Those are some of the facts.  Regarding who gave it to whom or if she cheated, no one on this forum can say for sure.

Regarding your symptoms, they sound like symptoms consistent with Trich.  However, it's strange that they would go away and come back, again, etc.  It sounds like this has been happening for over a year?  You both have been treated so I would suggest she return to the doctor to confirm the treatement was sucessful.

Are you still having the symptoms you described, even after your treatment?  Please keep us updated.

Hello

There are not doctors on this forum.

Trich can stay in the body for a while ---sometimes i clears, and sometimes treatment is needed.  It is hard to detect in males.

It is possible, she got it from you.    People get trich and other STDS from having unprotected sex.

A panned of STD tests is recommended: gonorrhea, chlamydia, and NGU for your symptoms
