contact

For STDs that require skin to skin contact to acquire such as herpes or HPV do the herpes blisters or warts show up where there was contact or is it pretty random where they show up?  If someone can provide a figure like (e.g. 99% of the time it'll show up where there was contact) I'd like that.

OK well I should have clarified that.  You are more likely to have vaginal warts if you have vaginal sex, anal warts if you have anal sex, and penile warts for either.

HOWEVER, lots of people get anal warts without having had anal sex, so its a guideline, not a rule.

If your friend has symptoms, it is very important to get things checked out.  No, it isn't much fun, but not getting checked won't change the fact that its there, ya know?  It would still be there, but untreated, which is worse.

Hey auntiejessi, I was reading some of your other posts and you say in a couple that if you've had anal contact that this increases your chances of getting warts there... aren't you suggesting that where contact occurs is where warts would probably show up, yet in this thread you say it matters very little if at all?  Sorry for bugging you, I'm asking on behalf of someone else who is afraid to ask.

Maybe, but if it does, its not much.

If you think you have either herpes or HPV, you need to see a doctor.  Anytime you have symptoms at all, get it checked out.

You said HPV can show up anywhere but does where the contact occur increase the likelihood significantly of warts showing up in that area?  Or no?

There is no figure for that, but with herpes, it usually shows up where you were infected, especially for the first outbreak.  However, you can have more than one blister, so it could be anywhere in the boxer short region.

HPV can show up anywhere.
