contagious area after wart removal

Im currently waiting for a biopsy on a small wart on the shaft of my penis. The single bump was less than 1/16 of an inch in diameter. The doc cut it out and burned the cut and said its all gone. If it is a genital wart and using the 1/16 size as an example, am I still contagious and if I am, how large is the spot that I would need to be covering with a condom? Just the wart size or the skin around it. Also I haven't masturbated since I thought it might be a wart for a week and I feeling afraid touch myself anywhere on my penis. If I touch the spot where the wart is/was and touch anywhere else on my penis, will i get a wart there too?
Thanks in advance,
Keeping fingers crossed its not a wart,
nik

I don't know.  You might try posting this on the dermatology forum.

I got this - http://www.dermnetnz.org/lesions/squamous-papilloma.html

I don't know about the subsets and such.

Here are my biopsy results:
Small squamous papilloma
The architectural features are suggestive of hpv effect; although in situ hybridization studies for both high and low risk hpv are neg, these do not test for all serotyprs, particularly those of low risk.
WTF!
My doc said not a clear answer but it's gone so do worry about it... Have sex!
I'm calling the lab to see if I can get better answers.
Any idea what's going on?
Thanks

Oh its contagious, you just wouldn't have any symptoms of it.

Read the asha site - it will help, I promise.

Oh so IF i did get it from her and its manifesting in genital warts in me...then she has the low risk and not high? So that is a good sign then....High risk HPV in women isnt contagious for men?
thanks again,

Well, you are kind of getting ahead of yourself, but I can't say I wouldn't do the same thing lol.

If it is HPV, then its not the kind that is associated with abnormal paps.  There are two kinds of hpv - high risk and low risk.  The low risk kind gives visible warts, and isn't associated with abnormal cells on the cervix.

If she has it, then there really isn't anything you need to do.  You both have it.

If she doesn't, then the vaccine is a good idea for her to talk over with her doctor.

Check out the asha site I gave you a few days ago.

Thanks again...soo much. Well if it is HPV then i tell her of course....and we take care of her..get her tested. I guess question is she may have gotten a pap smear during her vacation and they very well could have said it it was abnormal...if not then im getting her the vaccine... If she does have it and its too late for that...isnt there is a procedure that can minimize the impact of HPV by removing the cells...not to sure about that. Honestly i think i got it from her and I dont really care if we both have it from am sex point of view right? I just care about the best way to handle her health. Maybe you can correct me on some of my incorrect points.
thanks

NO RISK.

Seriously, the massage thing had NO RISKS.  None whatsoever.  I don't really see any health reason why you would tell her.  If you want to be honest and everything, that's one thing, but if you are just basing that on health reasons, there is no reason to tell her.

As far as the biopsy, well, are you not going to tell her if its HPV?  How will you handle that?

Firstoff I have to say that you really must have patience of the gods to field the many repetitive questions that those of us on the forums run by you. I don't know you, but just knowing you're on the other end makes me feel a bit safer. Unfortunately, many of us on here are OCD and have a bit of hypochondria to our personalities. Of course im prepping you( maybe even softening up for whatI hope my final question. I have 24 hours to decide how I want to handle my situation...long and sort of it is my girlfriend comes back from a 3 month trip tomorrow night and will want to be sexual. She is on birth control and we had a HIV test 3 months after we got together and she knows that I was tested neg for Herpes 2, 8 months before we started to date. During this time I got a uncovered handjob with lotion from an asian massage parlor. I know from this forum that you cannot get any STD from a handjob...but like the others I'm scared my situation is different. Therefore I have to ask a question to help me get thru this difficult time. I keep getting nervous that the massage girl had clean hands when she massaged me, but she could infect/contaminate her hands from the bottle of massage oil that had the infection from the last guy she jerked off. I have seen these massuses do this...as they jerk you off, they go back to the bottle of oil and get more on their hands. Isn't it possible that if a guy had a herpes sore or genital wart that the masseuse would get the cells on her hands and then grab the bottle infecting it? Im sure she doesnt clean the oil bottle? After the man ejaculates she cleans up with a towel and then leaves to come back with a hot towel and back from washing hands.
Based on this scenario, is it possible for her hands to be a carrier to the bottle? Most oil bottles has some residue oils on the outside- could the infected cells live in the oil for say 10-30 mins?
I guess Herpes is what im worried about- HIV I understand is more internal, with the only conceivable worry is that the guy before me had HIV, and the sperm that got onto the hands of the massuese also got onto the oil bottle and then i got jerked off and the contaminated oil got inside my pee hole...this is where you guys say...there wouldnt be enough concentrated cells in the contaminated oil to be strong enough to infect me.
Anyways on top of this I had a small bump on my shaft that I know i had before my girlfriend left and had it removed on Wed with the hopes of getting the lab results on friday...but alas life is funny and I have to get the lab result tomorrow, hours before I pick up my girlfriend from the airport.  What to do? (1) If the lab says its not a genital Wart  then I tell her about it and that it got removed and well hey we cant have sex cause its still healling... and I have some time to decide to tell her about the massage and the fact that there art NO RISKS! but im too scared and would like to have sex with condom til the 4 month period for herpes. (2) I have genital warts and i possible got it from her or my past...then if I tel lher about the massage, she'll think due to lack of knowledge, that that's where I got it and I'm screwed no matter how I say that I had it before she left. (3) I have genital warts and dont tell her about massage because some how auntiejessi you are able to in some way clear this up for me in my f-up head that I have no risk.
Add to all of this ..I'm so sick and tired of looking at my penis....haha like you said with a high powered light...my penis now feels so foreign to me...I want my old friend back!!!
really...thank you soo much for your time,
nik..
oh if you read this and have nothing that you havent said already to clarify and still feel NO RISK...please just reply back with NO RISK and Ill assume that what I said doesnt change anything w/o you going thru saying the same stuff over again.thanks...

Here's an additional question..my Urologist removed the small flesh colored bump on the shaft of my penis surgically to biopsy it. Still no results til monday but said that "its gone" nothing to worry about with ur girlfriend. I think he believes that sice he cut it out that im in no way contagious if I do indeed have HPV.
Is he nuts?
thanks

If you don't have an active wart, I'd at least use a condom and make sure your partner knows the chances.

thank you so much for clearing that up and ur patience. One last question...a symptom of a genital wart is visible genital wart..once i have them removed or do a 2-4 week treatment do I wait another 2-6 months to have sex even with a condom and stopping when i see some sign of a small wart?
Thanks again you've been really great.

No, masturbation won't make it worse.  That's what I've been trying, although unsuccessfully, to explain to you lol.

Yes, all those areas could infect someone, which is why it is recommended that you don't have sex with symptoms.

There was a chance that last comment sounded unappreciative. Sorry about that. Just read it back and it sounded pissed off. Not what was intended at all. I am thankful for all your help jessi.

so basically my entire penis, scrotum and possibly anus could potentially infect someone.
And masturbation could make it worse... So my small initial outbreak could be spread all over my genitalia? So I can't masturbate?
Thanks for ur responses,
Nik

No, its already in those locations.  Its a genital infection - its in your body.  Think of cold sores.  If you've ever had a cold sore, you know you can sometimes get a cold sore on your lower left lip, and the next you might get it on the upper right.

The infection is there.  It just chose that spot to show up.

Thank you for your response. So if I masturbate regardless of the existence of the wart I can spread it with my hands to other locations on my penis? Therefore from the shaft to the head and testes? Do i have to masturbate with a condom now? If this is the case my options seem pretty limited.
thanks

Yes, you are still contagious to others.  If this is HPV, the virus is contagious for several months, with or without symptoms.

You can't spread it yourself.  You already have it, and its already a genital infection.  You aren't infected just on the one spot that has the wart.  In theory, you could get warts anywhere in the genital area.
