insurance raising due to disease

If you test positive for an STD, is it possible for you to have to pay higher insurance rates?

Unfortunately insurance companies can pretty much do what they want which is why they are now trying to enact new laws to put some reigns on them.

will your insurance rates go up? If you pay for your own health insurance out of pocket, in theory they can go up because they can argue that you are living a high risk lifestyle and going to potentially cost them more money. If you are on a group plan thru your job, it' s not an issue.

Never heard of that, but each insurance coverage is different and only an INS company could tell you that. But I doubt it because it actually sounds like discrimination.
