protected sex -- std odds

I had protected sex with a prostitute.  Before putting on the condom, she put me in her mouth for 10 seconds.  I got treated the next day for both gonorrhea and chlamydia as a precaution.  I am returning home to my family next week.  What are the odds that I contracted something?

Thanks.  I appreciate your candor.  You are right.  I have never contemplated doing something like this, and (no excuse) would never have done it had I not been so drunk.  I will never do it again, and to ensure that, I have quit drinking.

I am letting it go now.  Thanks again.

Sir.  It was 10 seconds of oral sex.  Very brief oral sex.  Your was low enough to be considered zero chance.  We have already said this. So, your risk was virtually zero from day 1.

The next time you contemplate cheating on your wife, remember this encounter and the paranoia it has caused you. You said previously that you believe your risk was near zero yet you cannot let it go.  No matter how many times you ask in different ways, you have covered your bases.  This is over something that is RARE with PROLONGED exposure.  Key words.  10 seconds is not prolonged exposure.

OK, 7 days it is.

Can you tell me when you say that I have virtually no risk, do you include other infections such as hepatitis and others in that classification of risk, also?

We recommend 7 days on this forum.

After doing more research, I guess getting tested will be meaningless, since I got the single-dose treatment for both Chlamydia and Gonorrhea.  Which, to previous points was probably unnecessary.  Just peed into a clear cup ... no cloudiness this time.

Even though unlikely, if I did get an infection, how many days after the med listed above until it would be safe to have unprotected sex with my wife?  I think that I saw a post by Dr. HHH that said cured in 2 to 3 days.  I can probably stretch to 6 days without making my wife wonder what is going on ... since I just got home.

I suspect that because my diet has been totally screwed up and because of the anitbiotics, that my cloudiness could be due to diet and PH changes.  I have not been eating because of stomach upset and stress, and just started eating again.  I have been eating yogurt because of the antibiotics.

I plan to stop by a walk-in clinic today (day 4) and get a test -- to be safe.

Please comment!  (Your help has really been great)

Just now, I urinated and my urine was cloudy.  Should I be worried and should I get tested right away?

I know this stuff from personal experience, research, and good old fashioned education.  They taught about this stuff in sex ed when I was going to school.  Apparently, it isn't emphasized as much these days.  And I pay attention to special reports on television, etc.  Also, it helps to read the little pamphlets that are in most doctor's offices, hospital rooms, etc.

The reason you had virtually no risk was because correct use of latex condoms is 99% effective against gonorrhea and chlamydia. The overall risk of contracting them orally is generally very rare and therefore so is getting them genitally from oral sex.  Chlamydia is such a small chance orally that it isn't even worth worrying about.  Gonorrhea is the easiest to get orally though still a rare chance.

Being as though you got treatment right away, you probably killed any gonorrhea or chlamydia bacteria that was not likely present in the first place.  Really, it was a less than 10% chance.  And being that it was only 10 seconds, your chance was virtually zero.  It takes prolonged exposure (minutes).  The longer the exposure, the more chance there is.

Vance2335,
Can you tell me how you can feel so confident in your answer that I have no risk?  This could help me put my mind at ease.  I hope that you are right, but looking for more info that will help me understand.

Also, can anyone be more specific about the treatment I was given and its likelihood of eliminating my possibility of gonorrhea and chlamydia.

Thanks everyone for you help and patience.

We can't help you with that.  Only you can figure out how to deal with your emotions.  Perhaps you should visit the anxiety or stress forum.  They can probably help you learn how to cope with making a mistake.

that I can get myself to the place where I can say "I made a mistake, there are no severe consequences, and now I need to learn from it, and move on."  I don't know how to get there.

How do I cope with the guilt and the fear?   I believe that there is near zero chance that I have caught something.  I am not planning to tell my wife.

I feel so guilty and afraid that I cannnot sleep.  How do others cope with this?

Vance2335,

How can you be so sure about your answer?  I know that I am probably obsessing about this, but I need to determine my course of action before I return home.  I am very stressed and need to figure out how to put this behind me.

As you can imagine (like so many others on this forum), I made a very stupid decision that I regret, and I am suffering emotionally and I am scared.  I am glad that I found this forum.

Can anyone comment on the treatment?

You have no concerns for a STD from protected sex nor do you have a STD concern for 10 seconds of unprotected oral sex.

My treatement was:
1 g Cefuroxime

Would this be effective?
