Sorry, didn't mean to send.

Do not look to this forum or any other online source, or only your GP.  The management of all concerned -- you, your wife and your child -- is potentially complex and requires care by experts.

Unfortunately Syphilis after the primary and secondary stages can lie dormant in the body for an undetermined amount of years. Consider your sexual encounters and maybe you can get an idea of when you acquired it. Unfortunately there is no way to really determine when the infection occurred. My advice would be to get your entire family tested and see an infectious disease specialist. Your doctor will determine treatment for you, but mostly likely it will be three weekly shots of penicillin and then you will be tested in 6 months to see where you stand. Pending upon how long you have had the infection, it may require more treatment. I recently just finished being treated for Syphilis and I do not know how long I could have had it as well. My advise is to be honest with your wife and look ahead and work with your doctor. There is really no use for you personally to dwell on when you could have gotten it.

Try and stay calm :)
