Tingling after contact with semen

7 days ago my pelvis area came into contact with semen from someone who has had HSV-2 for over 8 years. They had no symptoms and there was no skin to skin contact at all, so I am wondering if it is still possible to have gotten the virus. I feel a tingling sensation in the pelvis region and do not know if it is my mind playing with me or indeed the signs of an infection...?

Thanks Life360. I guess I began to worry when I saw a post that said that if the infected person is shedding, the virus could transport that way to the uninflected person upon contact with the semen, regardless of whether or not there was skin on skin contact.

Thanks again!

Hi bookworm and welcome,
The spreading of genital herpes through inanimate objects, such as soap, towels, clothing, bed sheets, toilet seats, and spa surfaces is highly unlikely because the genital herpes virus cannot live very long outside of the body. Herpes is not spread through vaginal fluids, blood or semen, or like a flu virus that you can get through the air. Herpes is generally spread by direct contact.
