sore throat

Hi doc, I had unprotected oral sex 5 days ago. About two days ago i started to get sore throats when i would wake up in the morning. this is something that has happened to me a lot in my life but since the unprotected oral i have been freaking out.  could this be an std? or maybe from sleeping in the cold or just a common cold? there is nothing coming out of my penis and the sore throats come and go? if this was an std would the sore throat be painful or persistent?

Yes freaking out can cause a lot of symptoms and also lower your immune system. It is very unlikely you got an STD from oral unless it was oral to a man. It may also just be a virus that will pass very soon. Take it easy.

It could be an STD perhaps GC. But it could also be a strep throat or a virus. Do you have a fever or any pus in your throat (white bumps or patches near the tonsils or the back of your throat)? If do you it could be a strep throat. IF no fever and no pus but just a red throat it maybe a virus. It should pass in a couple of days if it is a virus. If it dosen't get better then see a doctor and be honest about the oral sex. They can easily do a throat swab for GC and also a culture for strep throat or a rapid strep test and culture.
