I’ve asked a question before and the answer was excellent .
Last year I had a sore throat (near the adam’s apple?) for a few months. I got nystatin and an appointment with a specialist. 1.5 to 2 months later, no sore throat at the specialist's. He looked and said everything appeared normal.
3 months ago (about 6 months later) another sore throat.. Two weeks ago the roof of my mouth and the uvula seemed red and sore also so I went to my family Dr. yesterday. I told him I was worried about HPV and oral cancer. He said it was nothing, nystatin wasn't what I needed and gave me some drops for nasal drip. He said if the sore throat continues we could make another specialist appointment.
My worry is, if I have cancer causing HPV in my throat maybe that I have it genitally and probably gave it to my wife (we are married faithfully over 10 plus years). That could mean genital cancer (cervical…) and infertility. My doctor said no oral cancer the last time and it is highly unlikely (I have never smoked). He also said that the genital cancer I was worried about is very slow to develop and could be caught with pap tests (my wife does it every 2 years). I didn't mention to him but I am pro-life and I am worried about the possibility of a baby having been conceived and dying because it could not be implanted due to possible scarring. Also, I had sexual experiences before marriage. Also, I do have some OCD.
My questions are:
1.If my sore throat goes away in the next 3 weeks should I still be worried/see a specialist?
2.How concerned should I be about my wife/possible future baby?
NOTE: we have 4 kids, I am 49/she is 44 and we are currently doing NFP.
3. The Dr. said genital cancer is slow but how about the onset of female infertility?
4.Should I be doing anything now? Get my wife to do more frequent pap tests? What would you recommend I do?
