A hypothetical regarding NGU

Hi everyone and good morning.
So, here's a hypothetical (sort of) regarding NGU.  We know that it is often caused by Chlamydia, UU & MG.  Say you've tested negative for all of these and you believe the tests, what then?  What if you still have NGU symptoms.....what do we think it is?

Wow.

Well, at least by then, if you have an infection, it will be fully brewed, so to speak, so there will be no questions of timing for any testing lol.

Does the UK do cancellation lists? A lot of docs in the US have those - if someone cancels, they call people on the cancellation list and see if they can come in that day.

It could be from bacteria in the mouth if you received oral sex. It could be strep, even adenovirus, and others along those lines.

https://emedicine.medscape.com/article/438091-clinical#b5

"Commonly identified causes of NGU include the following:

    Chlamydia trachomatis (15-55% of cases)

    Ureaplasma urealyticum (40-60% of cases)

    Mycoplasma genitalium (15-20% of cases)

Trichomonas vaginalis (< 5% of cases)

The number of fastidious organisms implicated in NGU is increasing and includes several Ureaplasma and Mycoplasma species. The causative organism cannot be identified in most patients with NGU.

Rare cases may be related to lymphogranuloma venereum, herpes simplex, syphilis, mycobacteria, or urinary tract infection with urethral stricture. Other rare but reported causes of NGU include anaerobes, adenovirus, cytomegalovirus, and streptococcus."

Some people never find out the cause.

I think I'm one of the 'some people'!
Did you ever get your urine tested for white blood cells? Even if you don't know the cause, you would still have white blood cells in your urine.

You could also have them take a swab sample and send it off and have them culture it to see if anything grows - maybe strep or something will grow.
