Chances of getting oral HPV from oral sex

I am a 44year old man who have been practicing oral sex with my ex girlfriends but recently came across articles that outlined the dangers of oral sex while I was trying to unravel the cause of my persistent sneezing, nasal congestion, itching palate and tonsillitis only on my right tonsil which worsened after I had oral sex with a new girl friend.

Since then I have been worried if I have contacted the high risk HPV or even oral wart.

Laboratory investigations for Chlamydia trichomonatis IgG and Igm antibodies and HBV/HCV, HIV, syphilis , gonoreah all came back negative, I am just worried if I have been predisposed to HPV 16/18 that can cause oropharyngeal cancer.

For now no pain while swallowing, no tonsillitis, itching has stopped  and sneezing too all after dose of antibiotics.

The most common strains of HPV that can affect the mouth are indeed 16 and 18, both of which would not give you symptoms. Even if you had either of these, throat cancer is rare.  In 2021, an estimated 12,620 new cases will be diagnosed in the US. Also, the fact that your symptoms cleared with antibiotics indicate that it was bacterial, not viral.

Did they do a throat culture? Look for strep? Anything else? Did you get a covid test?

Has your girlfriend been tested for anything?

Throat culture was not done, had covid last year and currently a battling with Long covid symptoms of persistent muscle soreness and persistent fatigue, persistent nasal congestion and persistent malaise.

Yes my girlfriend was tested for HIV, HBV, HCV all which came out negative

Has your girlfriend tested for gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis, trich or herpes?

It is preferable to do a urine or swab test, and not a blood test for gonorrhea, chlamydia, and trich.

I'm sorry you have long covid. Is it possible you're reinfected, though? You can get it again.

It really does sound like strep or something, though, and not an STD. I hope your long covid symptoms ease soon.

Okay, so she's negative. How can she give you something she doesn't have? Has she had a pap smear?  If you're 44, and she's at all close to your age, she should be getting pap smears every few years. What did her last pap smear show? If that was normal, you don't have to worry about HPV. How long were you together?

Seriously, it sounds like it was strep throat or something.
