Gonorrhea ceftriaxone

Hi just want to know I see the that you must get n 500mg ceftriaxone for gonorrhea the Dr gave me a 250 mg ceftriaxone  4 days  back and symptoms stil there I'm from south africa can someone tel me how does this work do they admit you in hospital or what for treatment

When you got the ceftriaxone, did you get 2 injections, or just one? If you got 2, then you got 500 mg.

Have you asked your doctor why you only got 250 mg? That's what I would do. I don't think they'd need to admit you to the hospital, but should just be able to re-treat you.

Let us know what happens. It's very important that you follow up with your doctor about this.

It was 2 x 1g  in 1 injection. So if the medicine dit not work can you try it again or how does it work pleas help  what about resistance I'm really scared

Okay, so I'm confused. You said it was 250mg, and now it was 2 x 1g? That's 2 grams? 2000 mgs? That's way more than you needed to cure gonorrhea.

If it was just 4 days ago, give it some more time - at least a week - to see how it goes. If after that period, you don't see marked improvement, let your doctor know.

If this is not the same encounter as January - did you test positive for gonorrhea? Are they just treating you as if you have it?

You really need to start using condoms. No judgement, but getting STDs repeatedly can cause long term problems for you.

I asked the dokter and she told me it is 250 mg she said she is working according the WHO so I don't know now CDC states 500 mg

And sorry yah it's from the same thing in January I really don't want to bother you guys it was just that 1 time encounter there was just 1 time white watery stuf coming out so after that nothing again discomfort wen pee pain once and a while in testicle so nothing just discomfort the whole day inside penis

So did you test positive for gonorrhea? Did you test at all?

So I found the WHO Guidelines (https://apps.who.int/iris/bitstream/handle/10665/246114/9789241549691-eng.pdf - pg 11) and they do say 250 mgs, but also say 1gm of azithromycin. If there is treatment failure, they will then do 500 mgs.

I'm concerned that they aren't testing you and just giving you antibiotics. Did the itching ever go away?

No I didn't test for it . It was about 3 moths after I saw a with watery discharge from my penis 1 was on a lot of antibiotics and doesn't go away there's no permanent discharge was only that 1 time I was o levofloxacin 5 days amoxicillin 3 g orally doxycycline 7 days metronidazole 2g once plus azithromycin 1.5 then the ceftriaxone 250 plus azithromycin 1 so what's going on

So I think maybe trichomoniasis I've read that metronidazole fail and cause thin white discharge

You took all those meds? Were those prescribed to you?

You need to actually get tested. Taking all those meds is not good for your body, and you can't have needed them all. Is there some reason why you aren't getting tested and just treated for every STD possible?

Find some place and get tested. Increase your water intake and see if that helps the burn, and get tested. Don't take any more antibiotics, and test when it's been more than 2-3 weeks from your last antibiotic use.

Okay so I did all the test and I'm negative for all the symptoms. Dr told me it's all in my head so. Just 1 question is utheral  swab 2 cm in the urethra enough to detect gonorrhea. The only time I have a discards is wen I'm passing stool and consterpated what is the cause of that

2cm is enough.

Discharge when passing stool or constipated is relatively normal in men. faeces (poo) can push against the prostate causing the secretion of clear or white colour discharge. I get it as well and is not to be worried about at all :)

O sssst o okay so that was the problem the whole time it s like white watery dischards. So the swab if it was les then 2cm  wil it make an difrance or not just paranoid

How do you know it was less than 2cm?

You are fine. You've already taken a lot of antibiotics. If you had gonorrhea, you've probably cured it. You are being paranoid.

It would not make a difference but it does not sound like it was anyway. Try to relax. It is totally normal. With me it started late 20s or early 30s.
