freaking out-should i calm down?

hi there, never done one of these before, but here goes. i went on vacation to D.C. recently. i met a man and slept with him, we used a condom but, OF COURSE, it broke. there was definitely semen inside of me. i freaked out a little, he assured me he was clean and didnt bring it up again...i later found out he was bi-sexual, which means he has probably had sex with other men. i am in a long term relattionship with someone who has been negative for everything. im just wondering how long to wait to take an HIV test, how much they cost, what my chances of contracting this virus are, and any symptoms i should look out for. i cant imagine having this horrible feeling for 3 MONTHS before i know whether my life is over or not.
i planned to get tested for everything else; my biggest concern is HIV.

since you had a condom break - if pregnancy is an issue, plan B can be bought at any drugstore without a prescription.

You need to wait 1 week post encounter for gonorrhea, chlamydia and trich testing.   6 weeks for syphilis testing. 3 months for herpes, hiv and hepatitis testing.

the risk of a std overall from a 1 time encounter is very low. odds are you didn't contract anything from this encounter but since another partner is involved, erring on the side of caution is a good idea.

any further questions about hiv testing need to be asked on the hiv forum.

RNA test is very expensive and the result is 3% inaccuracy....

You could look for RNA test. RNA tests look for the actual virus, not antibodies. RNA testing detects HIV at an earlier stage than standard antibody testing. I have no idea how much it could costs.
