Do I have a risk?

Hi Doctor,

I know I can pretty much answer my own questions by those very helpful searching results here, but somehow I feel like to hear the Doc say it to me specifically

ok, here we go

I went to a SPA twice,

the first time, about 5 weeks ago? the provider gave me an oral, with not condom, but covered with a plastic sheet, I believe it's plastic wrap for microwave? when it's finished I believe the wrap was not broken, no direct month/penis contact at all.

the second time, about 2 weeks ago, I brought a condom myself, end up had protected oral and vaginal sex, condom was on all the time. no slippage, not broke either

I did tested for STDs and HIV last year, all negative, and this two are the only incidents after that. I don't have any symptoms, some sensitivity on the genital area, but I guess i could be genital concentrated anxiety?

my question is: Do I have a risk for STDs/HIV and do I need to be tested?

I get myself into this every year for the last few years. I love my wife, I'd die for her, but somehow this kind of thing just keep happening once or twice a year. I really hope this would be the last time I worry about this.

Please answer my question, and thank you in advance!

Welcome to the forum.

No STD can be transmitted through plastic film; and even without protection, oral sex is low risk for all STDs and zero risk for some.  Don't confuse guilt and anxiety over sexual choices you regret with disease risk.  They aren't the same.  It is not possible you were infected with anything during the events described.  If these are your only potential STD/HIV risks, you don't need testing and can safely continue unprotected sex with your wife.

I hope this helps.  Best wishes--  HHH, MD

Doc, May I give you a little update?

I went to a family doc 2 week ago for the urethral/prostate irritation; got my urine tested (cell culture? ) and I got tested for gonorrhea and chlamydia, since the test was easy to order in his opinion. he think it could be prostate infection and put me on ciprofloxacin, 500 mg, twice a day for 2 weeks.

all tests are negative, and I actually felt better after the meds.

The doc want me to get back and have a blood work done. if I want to get tested for syphilis and HIV, would the meds I took cause problem? if so, how long should I wait?

thank you very much!

Anxiety won't cause redness of the skin of the penis.  However, anxiety can make things seem more prominent, and most likely your penile skin is normal.  But if you are in doubt, get examined professionally.  However, if anything is there, it has absolutely nothing to do with the non-exposure sexual events you have described.  Your other symptoms also are typical for anxiety -- and whenever someone suggests his or her own symptoms have a psychological origin, usually s/he is right.

LabCorp is a solid lab with excellent quality control. You can trust al your test results.

That will end this thread once and for all.  It's time for you to move on to important things.

Hi Doctor,

I don't know if you will still answer my question in this old thread, please reply when you see it?

My only two possible incidents you have already comment on. I did have a few other incidents(2 to 3) with masturbation provided by others I didn't mention, but those are not worth worrying at all right?

and yet, today I see a little red lump? under my foreskin, it did trigger my paranoia. will a healthy man have a little red from time to time as well?

the sensitive feeling of my penis is still there. could it be all in my head?

last time I have a red thingy like that, I ordered a test online from "stdtestexpress",  and did the test at LabCorp, they emailed me my results.  Are those trust worthy? I did received all negative test result from them. tested at least 3 month after my last possible incident. That was last year.

I have never had unprotected vaginal sex with stranger, and only two unprotected oral, and those are in 09;  I've used the LabCorp to test in 10 and 11, nothing come up, all negative.

So, to sum up, my body is sending me mixed signals even though I am very convinced that I don't have anything.

Would the anxiety cause all this? Does it need time to go away?
Will healthy man get some red dot on their foreskin once a while?
Could all the tingling or sensitivity on my genital area all in my head?

please reply, I'm trying to move on, but it's slower than I thought

thanks you doctor
