Itchy, painful rash on vagina; lower back pain, sex uncomfortable

Hi Dr.
Last week, after I shaved my vagina, I noticed small red bumps on the lips and  a few on the inside of the lips of my vagina.  Since, I just started using this "feminine deodarant spray" down there and I recently shaved, I thought it would be safe to assume this is an allergic reaction or something. So, I left it alone.
However, it itches and, obviously, when I scratch it...it seems to get worse.  It's still here a WEEK later!
Bumps are on the right side of the vagina...not ion like a cluster or anything...but where I have scracthed it...it seemed to get more irrated in that spot.  Also, if you look right at my vagina, on the lips...down both sides...there a few big bumps on it. And lastly, at the top of the opening of my lips, there are 2 bymps there as well.  Kinda painfull at times and ITCHY as heck!
I have shaved since last week, so I was thinking maybe that irrated it more.
I am SO scared! I dont know what this is. I have a appt with my Gyno in 3 weeks....but this is totally stressing me out!
Yesterday I even felt like there were little bugs running around on me down there or something! Do you think what I have is Herpes or a rash??

Lastly, last week, I was attempting to have protected sex and it felt uncomfortable! Not "painful" exactly....but more UNCOMFORTABLE.  So, I had to stop.
I also have PCOS and recently have had 2 cysts.  My lower back has been killing me and yesterday I had the worse cramps.Maybe another cyst?  Do you think this is why sex was uncomforatable??

Wish I could turn back time.  This feeling of not knowing is horrible. Tomorrow I am going to look for an STD clinic...in the meantime, I hope the DR answers me.

Yeast sounds like a good bet, but I'm also concerned about herpes.  You don't describe your sexual lifestyle and partnerships, so I can't judge your risk for herpes or other STDs.  The main thing is don't wait for your appt in 3 weeks; the likelihood of an accurate diagnosis will be much less.  And it sounds like you are uncomfortable enough that the wait would be pretty unpleasant.  If your gyn can't see you in the next couple of days, go to your local health dept STD clinic or a reproductive health clinic like Planned Parenthood.

Good luck--  HHH, MD

If you're really concerned and don't want to wait for your gyno appt why not drop into your local std clinic - they'll be able to give you an idea of what's going on.  I'd avoid using any creams / lotions without the recomendation of a doctor as they can sometimes cause spreading in the case of herpes.  I'm guessing you guessed right the first time and it is just an allergic reaction and nothing to worry about.  If it is herpes, remember that many people have genital herpes and there are lots of treatment options.  I freaked out when I first found out I had herpes but I picked up a book on it and feel much better about the whole situation.  Hope that helps.

How long after you get a herpes outbreak does it cluster? Last night, I put some Cortizone-10 Plus cream on it to relieve the itching and its been there for about a week. Anyway, this a.m. Looks like it clustered....but only in one spot and there are still misc. bumps all over!
Im freaking out!
