Negative blood test

Hello,

I'm 30 y/o I am married and have only had my husband as a sex partner.
He says he has never cheated on me and i believe him. My symptoms started in December 2012. I had a late period and I thought i might be pregnant. When i did get my period it came with lots of pain and right after my period i had what i thought was a yeast infection. My vagina was very raw it felt like cuts not only on my vagina but my retum as well. The doctor gave me medicine for the infection. 1 week aftet the treatment i had the same symptoms. At that time the doctor did STD testing, she didn't see any cuts but took a culture to test for herpes. That all came back normal. Since then I've had the same symptoms every month for almost 1 year now.1)I get them around my period either before during or after 2) I get tingling on the area *right before the entrance of my vigaina*3) when i get the vaginal symptoms i get the "cut" on my rectal area too 4) they last about 5-7days 5) always on the same spot and same area every month.
I have had many tests done amd all negative. Last night i was done with feeling this way and not knowing what it is.My fear is herpes, I went to urget care the doctor said it sounded like herpes and ordered a blood test HERPES SIMPLEX VIRUS 1 AND 2 ANTIBODY (TYPE SPECIFIC) That came back negative.
Since i have been dealing with this for almost a year could they have caught it in the blood already?
Does the test mean it's definitely not herpes and its something else?
Could there still be a possibility it is herpes?
When i follow up with my doctor can i ask for another blood test?

I'm so scared because i have 3 young children and I'm scared of not knowing what this is.

Welcome to our Forum.   Please be patient.  The MedHelp statard is that questions should be answered within 24 hours of submission we do far better than that but the site is not manned 24/7.   I will be pleased to comment and provide some suggestions.

Your problem is a difficult one and I suspect you will need further evaluation, probably by a dermatologist.   I completely understand why having recurrent "cut" close to your rectum would make you worry that this could be herpes however it is certainly not clear that this is what is going on.  The fact that you have the recurrences so frequently is more often than is typical for herpes- on average, HSV recurs about 3-4 times per year, not monthly.  Further, although they rarely are negative in persons with infection,  your negative blood tests is strong evidence that this problem, whatever it is, is not herpes either.  I have several suggestions which may help you to sort this out:

1.  You need to have a PCR test taken with a swab from the recurring "cut" the next time it recurs. The sooner after it appears, the more likely it is to be positive IF it is herpes (which seems unlikely).  These tests are highly sensitive and if this is herpes and you get the test soon after the sore appears, it should be positive if this is herpes.
2.   Second, I would suggest that you see a dermatologist about this problem, again, preferably if it can be arranged at a time when the lesion has recurred.  There are other dermatological problems that can recur in this way.

I hope these comments are helpful. Please let us know what the dermatologist says and what the PCR test shows.   EWH
