STD/HPV RISK?PAP test 4 years ago and was abnormal cells

Hello Doctor,
I would like to know if  i could get HPV after i had unprotected vaginal and oral sex with a girl i met a year ago and we were dating. She had  a PAP test 4 years ago and her results were abnormal and never went to her Doctor again all these years because she never received the results. I use a condom the first night but i was allergic of the latex and made me feel a burning sensation so  i stopped using it..it was a stupid idea!! We had sex just 2 nights.
This was in Ireland 2 months ago,she took some test because she had some rash and was discharging fluid from her vagina after a week and a half we had sex,she went to her Doctor and told her it was a yeast infection and  informed her about the PAP results, she missed all these years.I felt some rush too after a week we had sex around my groin area , it was itchy  and was on my testicles and tights. Around the shaft and head of my penis the skin was a bit swollen, specially the skin under my head of my penis (I'm circumcised).I don't have any bumps or warts, just some parts of my skin is more pinkish and red than before i guess,I'm not quite sure if had changed but i feel some parts of the skin as they  were scratched and i have a feeling of a small burning  sensation not much also when i urinate some times. Also some pain, like pressure on my lower abdominal area just sometimes.I don't know if this  happened because I'm really nervous or her yeast infection,my allergy to the latex or because she passed me  HPV or any STD????.I took HIV,Chlamydia and gonorrhea tests after 25 days i had sex, all were negative.
1) I could  have HPV now because of the symptoms or any other STD because of her PAP results?? Even if she kissed me i could get HPV in my mouth/tongue after we had oral sex and now pass it to other person by oral sex or kissing???2) After i fingered her,7 days later i scratched by accident a coworker and bleed a bit,i could infect her with HPV or any STD??Please help.

With your negative tests you do not need further testing for gonorrhea or chalmydia.   If you were not checked for NGU, you should be.  In the absence of lesions, I see no reason to test for herpes.

In addition, I should point out that sometimes after an exposure that, in retrospect, one wishes they had not had, persons tend to examine themselves and be far more attuned to genital sensations than in periods when they are not concerned.  This in turn leads to noticing what turn out to be normal sensations that might have been not noticed or ignored at other times.  Perhaps this is a contributor to your situation.  EWH

Thank you Doctor for your answers.
Should  I take a test again for STD's? I had one 25 days after i had sex (HIV, Chlamydia and Gonorrhea but not Herpes) All  results were negatives. I read i have to wait  3 months to be tested  and have a clear result(it's the 3 months window). Is that true?
I still feel the burning sensation on my penis after 2 months and burns a bit sometimes when i urine, Could be any STD's as Herpes or maybe a urine infection she passed me because of her yeast infection??? Any suggestions of what type of STD's test or test  i should get.
Thank you again for all your help.
Kind regards.

Welcome to the Forum.  Could you have HPV from this exposure- sure.  How likely is it, not too.  Let's consider the situation and what you can/might do about this.

HPV infections are extraordinarily common.  In fact, it turns out that over 85% of adults will have HPV at some point.  When they do, the infection may cause visible genital warts or may be asymptomatic.  Either way, even without treatment, over 98% of HPV infections will go away by themselves, perhaps taking as long as 18 months to do so.  In the interim, they can be passed to others.  In a tiny proportion of women who get HPV, the infection may progress to casue cervical cancer.  This complication however can be prevented by regular PAP smears which allow early detection and treatment before cancer occurs.  Your partner has not done anyone any favors by not seeking further evaluation for HPV.  whtehr she still ahs HPV is unknown but in all probability, the infection that was detected 4 years ago has resolved.

The symptoms you describe are not suggestive of HPV as HPV infections are typically asymptomatic.  Your symptoms may be a reflection of the fact that you are anxious about this exposure and as a result, are more attuned to genital sensations than normal.  Alternately, your sensations may be the lingering effect of your latex allergic reaction.

What to do.  To be honest, there really is not too much to do at this time.  Testing for HPV is not recommended.  In the unlikely circumstance that you develop warts related to this exposure, they can be treated at that time.  Further, there is no reason to be concerned that you might have HPV on your finger which could be transmitted to a co-worker in a scratch - this simply does not happen.

For more information on this most common os STDs, I suggest you take a look at the excellent web site run by the American Social Health Association (ASHA).  By way of full disclosure, I should point out to you that both Dr. Handsfield and I are on the Board of Directors for ASHA,

Hope these comments help.  Try not to worry.  EWH
