Flu Jab

Hi guys are you getting a flu jab? I get mine next week. Someone told me that her GP wont let her have one as she has an autoimmune disease and it could compromise her health. Whats all that about anyone know? Surely if you have a weak immune system it is better to protect it from things like the flu.

Anyway my GP insists I have one which I did last year and sailed through the winter.

Have a great weekend. Mariaxxx

I havent had the flue shot in years and do just fine, I will take the familiar above the unfamiliar. I had a flue shot early in my 20's and became sooo sooo very sick with the flue lost 15 lbs that I didnt have to loose, in bed 2 weeks. Since then I never get so sick from flue that im in bed more than a few days.
I recieved information about a higher risk of guillian barre if you have autoimmune disease.

Sorry about my spelling typing, brain fog and my hands just dont want to do what I want today

Good question.

The LDN I take boosts my immune system so no flu shot for me.

Other medications supresses the immune system. Yes, many of us already have a wonky immune system due to the autoimmune condition so I would think it is best to consider everything before taking any jab.

My doctor says people suffering from auto-immune diseases have a consistent, and often severe, zinc deficiency. (Zinc is essential in maintaining the integrity of the immune system)

That was the case with me-profoundly deficient. So, I take zinc, also.

I had asked about getting the flu shot and my doctor said that as long as I am on the amount of prednisone I am taking the flu shot wouldn't even be effective (the rule being over 15 mg per day).  I have not heard that one before.  So, no shot for me this year.

Wanna :o)

Are you talking about the new piggy jab?

I am not having that one LOL, I dont want to suddenly feel like wallowing in mud LOL.

NO I think the normal flu jab for me is important but the piggy flu well I was alive in 1957 when the last pandemic was about and my mum had it and gave us kids a taste of it, so hopefully I have the antibodies.

I said HOPEFULLY LOL. Watch this space.............

Maria I had the flu  and pneumonia jab last year. My GP insisted as I've had pneumonia and any virus or infection leaves me bedbound.

I'm still in two minds about having the new flu jab though.

Hey Maria, Im not having the flu jab as apparently this along with me getting Hep B both at the same time, is what caused me to have Post virul ME in 2006....so althought I and the medical professionals cant prove it, Im not taking any chances....so nope not for me!
