I LOVE my Neurologist

My appt went very well, thanks for all the well wishes!  I really like my Dr.  She was nice, listened well and really took her time.  She brought up MS right away, but said she didn't think that's what it is, but is doing an MRI of spine and head to hopefully rule it out.  She is checking for vitamin deficiencies.  She prescribed a medication for my headaches/body aches and said she really wants to focus on making me feel well.  She believes that my poor concentration, etc are possible side effects from the pain I am having.

My MRI is on Monday and I follow up with her on Jan 8, so this is moving fairly quickly and I am pleased.  Hopefully I will find some relief from the medications as well.

I know I really don't have any answers, but I am feeling encouraged.  She didn't dismiss me as others have in the past and really took the time to talk with me.

LOL...yes, I get to wear some sort of goggles and I can see the movie through them!!  It's a brand new hospital and we have all kinds of new cool stuff.  Apparently the mammogram part of the hospital is "spa-like"....

And maybe I am stressing, but I still don't like the way my hands and arms feel!!  They kind of hurt and feel "tired" and then my fingers go numb...oh well, I suppose it could be worse!

Hi Kristin, watch a movie wow thats cool.

The MRI well its NOISY honestly it makes the weirdest noises almost like a machine gun lol.

Well you lay down on a table and they make you feel nice and comfortable. They give you a panic button so dont worry you can get out at any time.

Just take a calming deep breath and you go in very slowly.

For 2 areas it takes about 40 minutes, it sounds long but honestly it goes really quickly. They usually talk to you throughout the procedure.

I am CLAUSTROPHOBIC and when i went for my first one i thought i would never survive it, but i just concentrated on a wonderful holiday i had clutching my panic button LOL and I was out quicker then that. Now after 8 I am an old timer LOL.

Just remember you have to go through this to get answers ok.

When you come out you might feel a bit dizzy and disorientated but that is normal, have a drink of water and you will probably need the loo too LOL.

The numbness well I think you are stressing out about the MRI and your symptoms are have woken up due to your inner stress.

Good luck for Monday will be thinking of you ok and let us know how you get on.

Watch a movie BLIMEY talk about SPOILT ROTTEN LOL.XXXXXXXX

thanks so much for all the responses.  I love it here...you all are so supportive.  The MRI is Monday, I've never had one before and I'm going to go ahead and attempt it without the meds, I think I can handle it.  They said I could watch a movie.  They are doing spine and head...any idea how long that will take?? I'm also going in to get blood drawn beforehand, so I just set up childcare for the entire day.

My left hand went numb today and totally freaked me out.  Any thoughts about that??I was also having a sharp headache at the same time...I can't wait to get this MRI done and see what it says.

Reaching for the moon...?!

Here's a thought experiment...consider the possibility that astronauts ever have to sojourn in NeuroLimboland.

I think not somehow! LOL

Hmmm...wonder how that could be...

Woop woop, another good result. I am so pleased for you. Good luck on your MRI, have you had one before? If not warning they can be a bit NOISY LOL. We can get to the moon but we cant make a quiet MRI machine LOL.

Good luck anyway. xxxxx mariaxx

Good to hear that your neuro is veering away from MS.

Jenny,
Thanks!  I can't remember the name of the medicine..she called it in and I haven't picked it up yet, so I can't look right now.  When I pick it up, I'll post on here.  I'm curious if others have taken it.  She said it is for headaches but will also help with my body aches as well.
