Is this true about your vagina when you are in your 40´s?

I heard that as more we age the vagina walls become thinner but I also heard that if you want your vagina to be heatlhy in that tricky age as if you are above 40´there are several changes in your female organs and yourself,  it helps to have sex often to make your vagina like more active in some way

Is that true and why is that?

As women get older and especially during and after menopause, the vaginal walls become drier and thin. This can lead to tears and vaginal prolapse if we do not take care of ourselves. If you do not want to take the hormone cream mentioned by someone else here, another great option is using a natural item to keep your vagina lubricated. There are options at the stores, depending on where you live, like LOLA, a personal lubricant for women that is all natural, made with organic aloe. This can be a little difficult to get inside you where it's needed unless it's put on to something else first, like a masturbation toy, then inserted into the vagina. Another option is to use solid, room temperature,  cold-pressed coconut oil. With it being a solid and room temperature, you can easily get a small chunk and then insert it high into the vagina. Your body heat will quickly melt it, coating and nourishing the inside walls of your vagina. Coconut oil does not stain cotton clothing, whatever leaks out will wash out in the laundry. I have been using this method for about a year now. I no longer have any pain during sex. Not only am I dealing with menopause but I have Sjogren's, an autoimmune disease that dries out everything, eyes, mouth, skin, vagina, everything.  If it works for me, I am certain it will work for you. But let me be clear. This is not something to use right before sex just to make things feel better. Use it regularly, whether you will be having sex or not, use it hours before sex so it has time to soak in. This is not just about easing passage into your vagina, it's also about your vaginal health. You don't want tears, you don't want vaginal prolapse. Take care of yourselves ladies. Be good to you.

I'd be very cautious about using that Lola product inside your vagina.  It isn't all natural, don't know if you read the ingredients.  One, for example, sodium benzoate, is a human-made preservative that can cause excess acidity, react badly with vitamin C, possibly create some benzene, a carcinogen, and possibly cause some inflammation, exactly what you're trying to prevent.  It also contains other substances so it is not just a water based lubricant.  I also don't know if anyone has studied putting coconut oil in one's vagina all day every day.  I would recommend what the above opposes, which is to just use this when one wants to have sex.  You also don't need it deep inside the vagina where anything can become a bigger problem if it's contaminated with any bacteria.  Penetration at the opening will allow entry, and after that, the vagina will generally respond even after the drying of menopause.  The hard and painful part is getting inside.  A little pure calendula oil will soften and soothe the outer area and allow easy entry.  Aloe comes pure and not pure, so again, watch for preservatives.  This is a very sensitive area and it goes inside the body, so do be careful.  Now, this is an old question, but women have very different experiences so if you're not having a problem, don't treat a problem that doesn't exist.  And being in one's 40's isn't that old for most women, though some will start having problems then, so again, go by your body, not by a generalization.  Peace.
Ask your doctor.  Women do lose estrogen as they are older and particularly post menopause which is unlikely at age 40. They prescribe, however, an estrogen cream for vaginal use to combat the effects of this natural hormonal shift. But vaginal prolapse is a huge problem for women especially if they've had natural child birth or gain excessive weight. If the lubricant helps you, go for it.

yes it takes awhile to get comfortable inside, ask your partner to be gentle.  Anyway, i didn't need the cream til i was 56 and thru menopause. Once, since i have been older, i hadn't had intercourse for 16 years, and when i tried to again, it hurt and felt all stretched out and sore after.  It took awhile to get used to it again.

Having regular sexual intercourse definitely helps to keep the vaginal walls and tissues limber and lubricated (but that doesnt mean you have to have lots of intercourse.)  Once you enter into menopause the tissues will tend to start to dry out and thin.  Using the replacement hormone estriol in a vaginal cream inserted with a tube plunger helps with this.  This must be prescribed by your gynecologist.
