Chlamidya treatment didn't work?!?

So 6 weeks ago I tested positive for chlamidya infection, I took the azithromycin 4 tablets, abstained from sex and my boyfriend did the same...
Yet here i am 6 weeks later and i've just retested positive again??!
I'm really upset and worried about why the treatment didn't work for me the first time.

Any words of advice or an explaination would be much appreciated!

The treatment may have been successful, but you may have gotten re-infected or the medication was not taken for long enough.

You are right that both you and your boyfriend should be treated and that you should refrain from any sexual contact until you complete the treatment.

Do bear in mind that the infection is most commonly spread through unprotected vaginal, anal or oral sex; sharing sex toys if you don’t wash them or cover them with a new condom each time they’re used.

You can find more information about Chlamydia on the web.

Get back to the GUM clinic or your doctor for a further course that medication or a different medication.
