Shingles still spreading with antivirals? Are they working

I'm on day five of the rash and antivirals, day 8 of pain, day 10 of generally feeling unwell.
Rash was small on day one when I started antivirals, 4 days later the doctor said it was the worst case he'd seen, having quadrupled it's spread. It has now tripled that size again! Now it is my entire thigh and groin. And the last three days i've had the burning skin in a new large region, same side, entire arm and two fingers..., although no rash...yet

I'm on strict rest orders, I usually am at the gym 5-7 days a week, have a part time job and school, but I am not even allowed to walk the dog, or do my normal activities ( I should say, the intense nerve pain is my lower back, hip and groin, so I can't move well, and the rash is my entire upper leg, so I can't move even when i'm not in nerve pain, because the blisters rub etc). Not to mention the fatigue, i'm not sure if that, the pain or utter boredom will kill me first!

I'm not sure if this is the natural progression of the virus, or if the antivirals are not working? What more can I do? I'm on heavy painkillers, have two courses of the antivirals and steroids to shrink the swelling. I eat healthy and normally am active.

Any ideas?
