Sinus infection?

So about a month ago I started leaking a clear, water like liquid out of my nostrils. I went to the doctor and he said that my left sinus felt tender (even though I don't feel anything at all) he concluded that I had a bunch of mucus build up in my sinuses and referred me to a local imaging center where they did a cat scan of my face. I got a call later saying I had sinusitis, a sinus infection. I haven't been sick since last November and I don't have a runny nose or pain in my face associated with a sinus infection. The leaking comes out of one nostril and it alternates between the two. It's also not consistent. Is this a sinus infection?
