Feel like I'm dying while asleep

In the middle of the night while in a deep sleep, I feel like if I don't hurry and wake up I'm going to die. I feel like I'm fading away to death and my heart's not beating. Anyone else have this problem? I don't know what's wrong. It's very scarey.

No I am not dreaming. I wake up suddenly from sleep. I feel like my heart has stopped beating and if I don't wake up I am going to die. It is really hard for me to wake up. I know or feel like if I don't wake up right then... I am not going to ever wake up. I am going to die. I wake up saying I don't want to go now...please Lord not now...while taking a deep breath so I can feel my heart beat.

I read you brief post to say you know you are dreaming, and that your conscious mind works to wake you.  This would be a clear case of Lucid Dreaming and there is a lot of information on how to manage/use Lucid Dreaming - they may give you some ideas.
