Why do I start dreaming before I fall asleep?

This usually occurs in the daytime when I lie down and feel very tired, I’ll shut my eyes and obviously I don’t fall asleep right away, but as soon as my eyes are shut I start going into a dream like state. Sometimes I see images, sometimes I just hear people, but there’s always a “dream” going on and because I’m awake, I’m aware that this is happening, so I’ll try to open my eyes but then I can not move. It’s like I’m suffering sleep paralysis but before I even fall asleep. Also, like I said before, this is more frequent during daytime hours. I always seem to be very tired if I lie down somewhere
