Why am I so tired with 12+ hours of sleep???

I am 17 and a junior in high school. Ive been having these issues since about second semester of my Freshman year and they have been getting progressively worse since then. Especially these past few months. I have no energy at all. No motivation, bags under my eyes, a pale face, and get rather depressed sometimes. I have looked like I'm sick or somethinf for about 3 weeks now. But other than being exhausted, I'm fine. No sickness. I dont understand why I am so tired because I go to sleep relatively early but then I can't even get up. It's not just that I just don't want to get up, I'm sleeping through my 8 alarms that I have to set for myself. I don't even remember hearing them or turning them off. I think I just let them play out until they go off. I'm late for school a lot with no motivation to look decent and stay grogy well past 1st period. I'm tired throughout most of my day and then usually can't keep my eyes open by 6th or 7th period. Just last night I fell asleep at 4 pm, woke up at 10 pm, got a drink and went to the bathroom, and then went back to bed and couldn't seem to wake up at 7:45. 15 minutes before school. I don't understand what is wrong. I'm going to try and get to a doctor soon, but only being 17 and feeling like I'm 70 is awful. Please let me know if anyone has something similar?? Thank you so much!!

You could be anemic, you could have Mono (which is notorious for causing severe fatigue) and a host of other possibilities. I recommend seeing a physician as soon as you can.

You could be anemic or have a thyroid imbalance.  How is your nutrition?  If you don't eat right and are running on adrenaline, you can get adrenal fatigue.  Eat veggies and lean protein.  Exercise regularly.  Get out in the sun every few days for at least 30 minutes.  Try taking magnesium in the morning and vitamin D 1000 IU and calcium citrate at night.  How is your digestion?  Constipation can ruin sleep.

To some extent, being a teenager is tiring, but what you describe sounds like something is wrong.

Oh, and I also have insomnia sometimes. I used to have it a lot last year, but not so much this year.
