Seeing bugs

So, for the past two months I've been seeing bugs, but they aren't real bugs, I've been seeing them in my sleep, giant, flesh eating bugs. They cause me to jump up and either run out of my room or rush and turn on the light. Once I calm down I know that it was a dream but I just can't get over it, this has never happened before now. It happens at least once week, I'll think I see a bug, like a giant spider drop down from my ceiling on to my dress or something, and I'll jump out of my bed and turn on the light. One night, I thought flesh eating bugs where in my room trying to eat me, So I ran out of my room and into the living room, it took me about five minutes to calm down and realize that it wasn't real. Does anyone know what this is?

No, I don't see anything during the day, so schizophrenia is out, thanks for the advice, I will have to see about it.

What you are experiencing is Hypnagogic Hallucinations. Well from what it sounds it sounds like that.. Are you seeing anything during the day? If so, then id lean more to the schizophrenia side, if not, I'd be saying a sleep disoder(specifically narcolepsy). I'm not a doctor, or anything. I'm a 17 year old that was just diagnosed with narcolepsy, and hypnagogic hallucinations were my #1 symptom, I'd see everything from people to dancing animals to feeling like someone is on me. Your first step will be contacting your family doctor, tell them what has been happening. From there, he should refer you to a sleep study clinic where you will spend the night and for me I had to do the whole next day as well, they will hook you up and to be honest, it's pretty cool to hear what happens in your sleep and they'll tell you things you never knew about yourself. Google narcolpesy, and see if you have any other symptoms, contact your doctor and get it sorted out. Good luck
