Water reservoir

After 14 years on cpap I know there is a solution that can be added to the water to help with sinus related problems. When looking up a search on sinus rinse you can find countless home remedies for sinus rinse which I use on a regular basis.I have added different things to the water but have not found one to my satisfaction.I have used distilled water but have you noticed that it smells bad.It seems that some water smells better than others but the machine directions say use only distilled water. There are sprays to use on the mask to help with the sterile process.I am looking for just the right one.Herbal products if found seem to be my choice if found.I have also used nasal spray added to the water.
Let us find an affordable water additive and cleaner which can help all of us.Suggestions please.

How long do you soak the mask and what do you use as a preferance to vinegar. There are several vinegars. Thanks a million.

Personally, I would be hesitant to add anything directly to the water in the cpap humidifier without researching if it was acceptable to inhale, as far as lung safety. There are scents made from essential oils that I use on a small cotton pad outside the air intake of my cpap, and I like the ones with some menthol in them, though any scent would make less obvious any water, plastic, or other odors. As far as cleaning products, there's many out there and it comes down to a matter of personal preference. All I use to clean my mask and humidifier is soak it in vinegar water every few weeks. I have no buildup since I use only distilled water.
