Why do I gasp in fear whenever someone wakes me up?

Whenever I am awoken from slumber I get quite startled for a few moments, gasp and recoil. I'm a very light sleeper and tend to wake just by someone walking into the room, but I always gasp in fright even if it's someone I care about (parents, siblings, etc...). It doesn't always happen after a nightmare, either. It's pretty much everytime someone wakes me.

It doesn't sound like a sleep disorder. Probably just something with your nerves waking you instantly, so I wouldn't worry about it.
