sleep disorder to sezures

I do not sleep much to begin with and when I do I wake up every couple of hours looking at the clock realising it has only been a short time past when it feels like a full night. And recently in my sleep I tend to convulse and have trouble breathing and when I awake my muscles feel as if I just worked out strenously for several hours, and my mouth and throught are so dry i cant breath and I have pain around my eyes and all through my head. I have migrain headaches just more frequently the last 3 months or so and now this has started. After one of these episodes i feel week tired and in pain all day and also my right arm and right leg shake or spasm when I am still or not active. I do not know what to do next my DOC has all ready had me do blood tests and is arranging for more tests and apointments with specialists. But i am worried because my health effects my job and my family not just me and this is a very seriouse matter. What do I do next?

Hi morrigane, how are you? Hope you recover soon? It seems you are now under lot of stress causing you the sleep deprivation. You might be suffering from obstructive sleep apnea and associated rhythmic movement disorder, which you need to get evaluated by a sleep doctor and also get a sleep test done. How about your blood pressure? Stress can trigger your migraine headache, which in turn worsens the sleep deprivation. It is better to consult a neurologist and a sleep specialist and discuss your plan of care. Keep updating on the visit and test results. Relax! And be physically active. Take care and share your thoughts.

I'm not a doctor, but I think you're a perfect candidate to skip all the usual preliminaries and go straight to getting a sleep study scheduled. Your GP can order it. If you happen to have apnea, your oxygen levels could be getting low, causing the headaches. You may need other tests also, but a sleep study traces your heart and your brain waves and limb movements as well. Could cover a lot of bases in one night. Sometimes they take a while to schedule - check around before accepting a long delay. Also, being willing to fill in for a call-off can get you in sooner.
