78 days smoke free

I quit smoking 78 days ago and keep clearing my throat which makes it a little sore, mind you this is after catching a cold with a sore throat. Seems like i am always sick now. Is this normal? I been a pack in a half a day smoker for the past 10 years, however I have smoked for over 23+ years.

I started smoking about 10 years ago. I started because I wanted something to do while I was bored. I really don't like the smoke or feeling it gives but I think it's a habit for me now. When I get a cold and stay in the house I don't smoke for about two weaks or so because of the cold symptoms. I have no craving or W/D from smoking during those times. I would like a safe cigarette that I could fidget with for something to do. I wish they made one out of herbs or something that was safe. Anybody know of a safe one?

Congrats on your quit!
I was sick the first 4 months of my quit....2 sinus infections, bronchitis and pleurisy, so, if you ask me, I'd say it was normal.
Are you using anything such as the nic gum or nic lozenges? I think these would be irritants. If not and you are really concerned, maybe it's time for a doctor visit : )

Good luck to you and hope you feel better soon.
