Have set quit date

So today was suppose to be my quit day. But have 7 cigarettes left so going to start again tomorrow.
I know I should throw them out. But started day with same old habits, coffee, cig. Going to spend today reprograming me for the change.
I have tried everything just like some of you.
But now I'm getting concerned with health issues.
My question is did anyone else have to reprogram theirselves and if so is one day long enough or should I regroup and set another start date.

Thanks :)  I'm excited lol.  I'm going to start running with a friend of mine as soon as it quits raining up here, and snowing lol.  Will be hard on my lungs at first but I love to run :)  I check the board several times a day lol and look at my tracker often.

I'm sorry to hear about your mom, I know its hard to see them in that condition, I take care of my mom everyday, I'm her PCA and the more I watch her suffer everyday the more I didn't wanna end up like that.
I quit about a year ago for 6 months on chantix after the 6 months I started again :(  This time I did it cold turkey, if you can make it past the first 2-3 days the nicotine should be out of your system and its just the mental challege that lies ahead.  That's the hardest part.  I just kept really busy lol.  You can do it tho :)

Congrats on day 3! I'm glad to see that you are active on the support board. It shows that you are commited to quitting : )  I must have posted twice a day in the beginning and I checked the board all day long. It was my life line. It's also nice to see that you have a support system with friends and family.....that is vital. My 2 kids are away but I used to IM them with the results of my quit meter. I'm sure it drove them nuts, but they never said anything and always showed me support. I am so very grateful to get to this point in my life and if it wasn't for support, I don't think I would have made it.

You hang in there and keep on doing what you are doing, it's working ; )

Thank you, I'm using the commit lozenges and their not doing it. They are causing my stomach to cramp. But other than that doing pretty good this morning.
My mother also had copd, but she died at 59 from secondary pulmonary hypertention.
Good Luck to you too.

Good luck char :)  You can do it, one day at a time.  I read some of the articles on the whyquit website, its an eye opener for sure.  My mom is 54 yrs old and she is dying from copd (from smoking) kidney failure and congestive heart failure.  That was one of my reasons for quitting.   Download the quit tracker, its really neat to see how your doing.  I'll post it on my facebook every few days so all my friends and family can see how I'm doing.  Good luck to you :)

Just by moving your "quit day" back to accomodate those 7 cigs isn't a good sign Char.

Reprogramming yourself is something you can work on while you quit so no need to put it off again. I suggest to everyone that they read the articles at whyquitdotcom. It helped me immensely and I still go on and read.

You can write down the reasons you want to quit and when you feel your weakest, take out that piece of paper and reinforce your quit. Also, write here often. We are here to support you.......tell everyone you care about that you are quitting so they can support you also.
Stop drinking coffee for a few weeks. Most people find that helps.
It is a life changing decision and whatever you need to do to make it happen, then do it. Keep some raw veggies or lolipops on hand. Things that will keep your hands busy.

Good luck and we are here for you.
