After 12 experience & study of NRT therapies i can honestly say in the great majority of cases they do not work ! Do you honestly think the companies that produce these treatments want you to give up ? Do you honestly think your countries government want you to give up ? there is way to much money involved for both companies & governments... Of course they want you to continue smoking & using NRT therapies....

One method i know which has a fantastic success rate, however is not condoned by the wider medical community is as follows.

Basically it involves the use of varenicline in conjunction with an e-cigarette at first using 16mg liquid nicotine then 0mg e-smoke liquid for the final placebo affect.

Before commencing this method you will need to purchase an e-cigarette starter pack & 1 bottle of 16mg e-liquid refill & 1 bottle of 0mg e-liquid refill, these can be purchased online from hundreds of dealers. you will also need a doctors prescription for Champix *

The process is quite simple

days 1 - 7: substitute 50% of your cigarettes with 16mg e cigarettes

Day 8: Start your course of Champix & continue to substitute 50% of your cigarettes with 16mg e cigarettes

Day 12 continue your course of Champix & cease real cigarettes today & only use e-cigarettes from this point on.

Day day 16 - 18 continue your course of Champix & cease using the 16mg e-cigarette liquid & commence using 0mg liquid.

You can now complete your course of champix & continue to use your 0mg e-cigarette.

Over 90% of people who try this method quit smoking for good.....

Many people will ask about the safety of e-cigarettes... well the jury is still out on that one! however the way i see it is, if you can give up smoking in around 4 weeks using this method then you will probably not even need to use the e-cigarette anymore so this has to be better then continuing smoking traditional cigarettes.....

I see that some people state they have success with NRT therapies, i have a small issue with this due to the fact that people are not addicted to smoking , people are addicted to nicotine & NRT therapies are simply replacing one addiction for another, similar to saying a person has had success quitting heroin & now they only use methadone ??

don't forget that you must be very determined to stop smoking , also with your community it will also help if you would avoid getting closed to those who smoke , this will only be on your quitting period, till you can finally stop..

Everyone on here has struggled with and most continue to struggle with it and the ones who succeed are the ones who have decided that not only do they have to quit, but they want it just as badly. It's not going to work any other way. The more you know about your addiction, the better your chances are.
Most of us smoke(d) because of stress and anxieties. The physical addiction is over in 72 hours but it's the emotional one that needs to be addressed. Try reading the articles at whyquit.com which are very helpful. Try to indentfy with them and they will help you prepare for your quit.
As for "quit smoking" aids, as someone who has been a member for over 2 years, the majority of people who use the gum & losenges only find themselves addicted to the very thing that is supposed to help them quit. I have never read of anyone who was able to stop them, some chewing or using for over a decade! In addition to their new addiction there is always a health risk. I used the losenges for a short time and after a scheduled visit to my dentist who informed me that the inside of my mouth was ulcerated, I was told to stop immediately. I have heard many stories like mine and some worse. In the end, I quit smoking using Chantix and it worked for me but there are so many that have suffered from side effects that they have linked to the drug.
Those who quit cold turkey will advocate it. The whyquit website supports a CT quit but you don't have to in order to read the articles.
In the end, whatever method you choose, you have to commit to it and stay strong. It's difficult and there are times that it will seem like the hardest thing you will ever have to do, but then there will be times that it's manageable and even times that you will forget that you were ever a smoker, and those times make it well worth the pain ; )
As a smoker of 40 years and an ex of over 2 1/2, I can happily tell you that I feel wonderful and for a person who thought she would go to the grave as a smoker, I was able to kick butts : )
Good luck to you......if you really want it, you can do it!
