Quiting Smoking

Ok I'm the type of person who will admitt when I need help. Well I do indeed need help. I have been trying to quit smoking cold turkey because I know it the cheapest rout. I need to quit because I feel as if it just a ball and chain and that everytime I turn around I'm wanting a smoke. I'm also trying live a healthier lifestyle so that maybe one day I can look back and say to my kid and their kids that I love them.

Everytime you turn around you are wanting to smoke because you are fighting an addiction. A physical and a mental addiction. This is hard! Maybe the hardest thing you will ever do in your lifetime. I quit cold turky a year ago on New Years Eve. I still would love to have a cig but they no longer rule me. It is all my choice now and I rarely think about them. When you first quit it will be hard for you and the longer you go the less you will have those craves. When you get the crave, breathe deeply, walk, dance, time them! They only last a short while and the crave will go away whether you smoke or you dont. Remember, to do this, it is in large part mind over matter. Self discipline.

Congratulations on taking the first HUGE step towards a healthier life!  It's a long road, but you just gotta stick to it. When the cravings begin, distract yourself, drink some water, talk to a friend or grab some gum.  Being to create new habits and use positive reinforcement to help remind yourself of why you're making this choice.

Good luck!  Keep us posted on your progress :o)
