Nerve impingement in neck

Hey all! I had a large herniation in my L5-S1 and bulging through out the Lumbar Spine. Luckily a steroid pack a few years ago did wonders and now I only deal with the occasional pain and numbness. However a reoccurring event is severe pain in my upper back / should blades/ shoulder / elbow and into forearm / middle finger. It has come and gone over the past 3 years since I was in an accident. This time it is back with a vengeance!

Doc has recommended steroid injections, going to see pain doc in a few days.  Steroid pack did NOTHING, Advil is a joke. They said I can try Gabapentin. Has anyone had luck with it?

Also how did the steroid injections work?

Anyone recover from a neck nerve issue without the need for surgery?

Thanks all!

Hi and welcome to the Spinal Cord C/D forum.

I was put on gabapentin years ago and found not only did it not help but I developed other issues I was told would not be a problem......read up on warnings for Gabapentin/Neurontin.....

Have you tried accu pressure or anything like that, PT?
