I am nobody

Not Christian or Jew or Muslim,

Not Hindu, Buddhist, Sufi, or Zen.

Not any Religion or Cultural System.

I am Not from the East or the West,

Not out of the Ocean or up from the Ground,

Not Natural or Ethereal,

Not composed of Elements at All.

I do not Exist, am not an Entity

in this World or the Next,

did not descend from Adam and Eve

Or any Origin Story.

My place is placeless,

A trace of the traceless.

Neither Body nor Soul.

I belong to the Beloved,

I have seen the two Worlds as One,

and that One call to and Know,

First, Last, Outer, Inner,

Only that breath-breathing

HUMAN BEING. RUMI

I like Rumi's writings.

I cannot speak for anyone else, but there are times I try understand who/what God is and how He came to be.  It blows my mind how He could have always existed and what that would mean.....existing and deciding what to create.  Man found labels such as the ones Rumi mentions.  Man continues to name things and put them in categories...separate this/that.

Man puts tm's on things to own them and call them his/her own.  Simply being and experiencing isn't enough.

I find comfort in Rumi's and others writings.  Like lying down in cool water on a hot day and feeling the breeze gently caress my soul.

Interesting. That's similar to my perspective. I feel at times that although religion can be a bridge to spirituality, it can also be a barrier. Especially when a particular set of beliefs dictate that there is but one way, and all the others are condemned. I come from a Christian upbringing, and as such, know more about its theology and principles. But I have also found that most all walks of faith emphasize the same ideals such as love, tolerance and sacrifice. It is when they become, in my opinion, radical, which all of them have at some point, and begin to exclude others just because they are on a different path. This seems to hinder the real goals of contributing to the good, and giving others hope. GM
