My 89 year old mum has had a subarachnoid haemorrhage

can anyone please give me any hope that my mum may recover from the SAH she had either Xmas eve or possibly before
She only went to a and e because the care home where she lives were concerned about how sleepy she was
Shortly after arriving at A&E she had a seizure lasting 4 minutes
She then had a ct scan which showed a bleed on her brain
I was told immediately she isn’t going to live but I need to hold on to some hope that she may recover
I’ve just come home from visiting her in hospital
She is very sleepy but on Tuesday to Thursday she was talking and even laughing slightly
Today she wasn’t really responsive but when I kissed her forehead and said goodnight she said goodnight back and even did a little laugh

Hi Annefoth, I was just reading this and wanted to say that I'm really sorry.  I feel for you and hope that your mom is still with you and things turned around but wanted to send you hugs in case it didn't work out that way.

Just seen this
Sorry to say my beautiful mum died on 29th January
Just cannot accept that she is no longer here
On top of missing her so much I have a lot of unanswered questions with regard to the care or lack of she received in the weeks upto 24th December

People can and should always have hope even if it is just a glimmer.  Sorry the doctors are not being supportive of hope.  How is your mom doing today?

She is going downhill I am sad to report
She is classed as being in a depressed conscious state and the fact that she hasn’t regained consciousness by now means she never will
I am so very sorry to read this.  Miracles happen.  While I think you have to prepare for the worst, hold onto that little bit of hope.  Are they asking you to make any hard decisions or letting nature take its course?  I am again very sorry to hear of his and we will be thinking of you and your mom.

I am so sorry to hear about your mom.  That is a very hard thing to go through with our parents and I really feel for you.  There is no good time but at the holidays is particularly tough.

The doctors are not giving a very good prognosis.  But never know how things will turn out. What types of help are they trying to give her?  Has she signed forms before this regarding intervention for her care?  Do you have power of attorney?

It has been a day.  How was she today?

Thank you for your kindness
Just got back from visiting her
My brother has come back to uk from America
There were no interventions in place and I don’t have poa
My dad is actually her next ok kin but he is 91 but the doctors haven’t involved him in any decision making
Wednesday was by far the best day with regard to how responsive she was and today she hasn’t opened her eyes or spoken which is worrying and disheartening after Wednesday
I am in such a state of thinking she is going to die to being positive that she will live
I know I am in all probability deluding myself
The doctors are quite categorical that she is not going to recover
