Please help Stroke/tracheostomy advice!**********

74 y.o. mother had medium-level strokes 8 days ago. The neuro dr ave her 10 days on the breather, but the pulmonary finally appeared yesterday. ane he wants to awaken her now, extricate, ask the family to order them to perform tracheostomy. She awakens some for us, but will not much for him, but seemed in a rush. I know that there is a risk for pneumonia... The Neuro, Cardiac, and pulmonary doctors all differ on length days on ventilator, and breathing trials:

Pulmonary Dr. says - A.S.A.P.
Neuro Dr. says -  1-5 more days

Another note: She has passed all breathing tests, blood tests, Oxygen level tests, with the ventilator turned-off or partially off. She makes gestures while asleep--like she wants it out of her mouth.. Tries to pull it out on her own. This raises her blood pressure.

Pulmonary doctor came in and tried to awaken her too fast.  Most of her left side is ineffective, but she still doing well.

Thanks to you and yours, and much blessings to you all.

Some progress so far, but memory isn't there... Sleeping a lot..The Weenin progress began today..Nurses can't move her, so they messed-up some of the arrangement of hoses before they were off-duty.

She has progressed som, with a trac, but I leave, and return to find a Nebulizer, and I've some not-so-good things about that...

It seems to be putting watery humid air in her lungs..

Now, the resp/pulmonary doc cannot waker to 'extricate" the hose because she's sleep, but i will refuse the trach until they nurse/pharmacy stops giving her blood-pressure meds that allow her to rest..It's not a sedative, but lowering blood pressure is liken easing a headache. People tend to feel ate ease after taking aspirin, blood pressure medications, and/ garlic.

Why? (My Answer Part II):

Why they needed the families consideration 2 days early?

The Hospital's overall reasoning:

1)Pneumonia (possible).

2)Damage to her Larynx

3)Being too reliant on the ventilator "backing-her-up"

4)..and other infections

Respiratory/Pulmonary Doc seemed to be more in a hurry, than the Neuro, and Cardio...

Correction: The respiratory techs are here - to tests her off of the ventilator.

Why?

Its their "standard procedure"

..and its the morning of her 9th day here....

They respiratory techs are here - to tests her off of the ventilator.

She is even more responsive this morning, but if she fails this tests, they while probably encourage the trach more...
