42, TTC and New Here

Hi ladies!  I finally came across a forum of Over 40 and TTC that is actually ACTIVE!!  So many other boards haven't had posts in years. I'm looking for some friends and support, and an occasional place to vent that share this journey.
I am 42 (43 in April). My DH is 44 and we decided to try for our 1st child. I have an 18 DD from a previous relationship. We conceived in July, but miscarried in August and I had a D&C in September. We are now actively trying again and are hopeful. I am now 3dpo and trying to endure the TWW.
I'd love to hear your stories and look forward to see what's happening here.

Welcome to the site.   I am 45....yikes, can't believe I said that out loud.   Just had a little boy at age 43.   Tried fertility medications, IUI's and acupuncture for almost 2 years to get him.   We actually conceived him on a cyle that we weren't trying due to a large cyst.   Under the worst of cycles he was conceived and he carried to term and is perfect.   Prior to him I had 2 miscarriages and then since him I have had 2 miscarriages.   I'm not actively trying, but also not trying to avoid....so who knows.    Best of luck to you.

My bad - I meant using DHEA, not DHA in vitamins. They are starting a study here in CO using DHEA and Acai berry in freeze dried form to help improve egg quality.

I am 43 and almost 9 weeks along, had a bad bleed at 6weeks but baby made it!!! I had my last son 10 days before I turned 40 and I will be almostt 44 when this one is born, I did it all natural with both of these but did try meds years ago and they did not work, I am hoping this little bean makes it, I have had 5 m/c so I'm worried about anohter one, but on the last u/s we had a nice strong heartbeat!! SSBD to you all!!

I was taking Maca to improve my egg quality. I asked my RE about dhea, and he said I wasn't a good candidate for it. He was concerned I would get a blood clot, or have problems.
I really think the Maca helped improve my egg quality. I had two miscarriages in a row last year. And in January of this year, I took Maca, royal jelly, coq10 and l-arganine... My problem in the last was poor egg quality.
And I am 25 weeks pregnant now. Very healthy pregnancy so far.
I wish you all the best!

Have any of you talked to your RE about DHA? Not the dhea that is already sold with prenatals. I've read some about it on the internet and they have shown that it can help with egg quality. But it has to be in the pure form and prescribed and monitored by a Dr. I haven't quite hit the 6 month mark to get referred to an RE, but plan on asking about it if/when I get there.
I had a small temp dip 8dpo and am hoping it's an implantation dip. FX for the best Christmas present ever!!

Hi Ladies
I am currently in the 2ww following my 5th IVF treatment (4 fresh cycles/1 FET). I am losing all hope... today I stopped my meds as I KNOW it hasn't worked this time (no symptoms at all). I got pregnant earlier this year but miscarried, I turned 40 recently and now I just think it's never going to happen for us. This time I was given baby aspirin and lovenox, which I haven't had previously, but it still doesn't seem to make a difference. Finding this group has given me a glimmer of hope... I feel a little encouraged, thank you!
I take royal jelly, but was wondering if anyone could advise anything else for egg quality? We always have good embryos but then I get a BFN?
Thank you :)

Thanks for all the replies!! It is soooo encouraging to hear all the success stories..I am also trying vitex along with the supplements (Cq-10, Maca, royal jelly, etc.) It seems to have regulated my hormones and cycle...I feel so happy to be able to share my story with all of you!!! I think Sadiegirl is right...Consistency is the key!!!

Welcome and I wish you all the best on your journey to have a baby.
I am 40 years old (will be 41 a month after son is born).
I had a missed miscarriage of twins last year in August. And a blighted ovum in December last year. In january I started on supplements coq10, Maca, royal jelly, etc... Then I got put on baby aspirin.
I am currently 24 weeks 3 days pregnant with a boy. We are thrilled! Everything seems to be going perfect this time.
Hang in there and don't give up! I hope you get your perfect eggs soon!

Good, charting BBT is something that is really good, been doing it for a few years.  I also learned the Creighton Model which is a natural way to get prego or avoid it.  Center around the world teach the model for a low cost. It was how I really pinpointed my most fertile time after 5 years of ttc.  Sending baby dust!

It's really good to see I'm not alone. :) Thank you for the Welcomes and Baby Dust. My DH and I were high school sweethearts that reunited on FB. When we first started talking about having a baby we decided that it would be all natural or nothing. We won't be going any further than possibly fertility meds such as Clomid. IVF, IUI or egg donation are not something we will pursue. I started with just taking OPT's. This month I actually added charting my BBT. I know we did the bd on O day and the day after, so I'm hoping for some sticky baby dust. :D
Good luck to you all and I hope to find some great friendships here.

Welcome! My story is long, been trying since I got married in 2007. After many and I mean many, failed iui's and one failed IVF I learned about immune treatment with the Alan Beer Center. I am currently 5 weeks pregnant and I am 43! Baby conceived naturally with baby aspirin, and lovenox to help. Once I got my bfp I added progesterone.  Check out my journals.

Hello there!!  Welcome to our family.  I am 43 and trying to concieve too.  I got pregnant at 41yr and 42yr.  Both ended in miscarriage, and I haven't gotten pregnant again in over a year.   But I am still very hopeful!!  I am an all natural kind of girl.  No IVF or any assisted reproduction, but I must say..I love all the IVF'ers on here!! I have learned so much from each and every one of them.  I just found out the other day a girl I went to college with (we are on FB together) is pregnant.  I remember her being at least a year ahead of me in school so I had to reach out to her and find out if this was planned or a surprise.  As suspected she got naturally pregnant at 44yr and 3 months!!!  She said she tracked her cycles and had sex almost every other day..mixing up the times of day and night too.  Consistency is the key.  There are quite a few over 40ers on here who have gotten their BFP's and had their baby's.  I'm looking forward to getting to know you. Oh, and when I do finally get pregnant and have that baby it will be my first too.

Hi There!

You and I have a lot in common!! I am also 42 turning 43 in April (ugh!). I was also pregnant earlier this year. Conceived in May and ended up with a blighted ovum and needing a d&c for leftover tissue in Oct. I'm finally back on track with my cycles and hoping against hope for one more BFP that goes the distance ;0)
I have 2 kids, one is 23!! grown boy living on his own and the other is my sweet girl Amanda who is 12.
You will find a nice tight community of 40+ on this forum. A good few of us have gone on to conceive and deliver already and one of our dear members just got her BFP a couple of weeks ago ALL NATURAL!
Hoping you have some exrta good luck and get to celebrate soon!
WELCOME!!
