How can I remain a virgin?

I'm only 14, so I'm trying to either wait until marriage to lose my virginity or at least wait until at the legal age to have sex (16 that is). I was just wondering, how can I remain a virgin even though I get really horny sometimes? I really wanna wait, but there are days I just wanna have sex. Is this normal and how can I wait?

Thanks for the help in advance. I really do appreciate it.

So many young girls do not realize that the WHITE wedding dress is suppose to be reserved for those women who are still virgins. The white represents the woman as a virgin. Still untouched and I can tell you there is no better feeling on your wedding day than to put on that white dress and know that you have kept yourself clean. There is no other feeling that compares to giving yourself to your husband, in true love, for the first time. Keep to yourself, you will never regret it and the man who respects you enough to go without, until you are married truely does love you.

I think you are great for wanting to wait for marriage, as that is the greatest gift you can give your husband, oh and who said 16 is the legal age for sex 18 is when you are legally a woman 21 for a guy

I agree with April. Sex is a big sharing thing between two people, and needs to be right, not just done for the sake of lust.
But it is perfectly natural to feel the way you do. A big surge of hormones at your age is why you feel the way you do.
However, you don't want to give yourself away to someone in that way, and then the next day wonder why you went with that person!! (Because it was only your hormones talking, and believe me, once it was over you would just think "Why on earth did I do THAT??")
Sex isn't really about gratifying an urge.....it is really about sharing very intimately with another person. So why not wait, until you are older and you have found someone you can trust, and share affection and friendship as well with.

You sound like you respect yourself, and have a good strong mind. Let your mind take charge now. And you will be respected all the more for it by any worthwhile guys!

Congratulations on wanting to wait for sex! That shows you are a mature and wise young lady who respects her body. Don't let a boy try to get you to change your mind just so he can satisfy his own urges! Teens your age are simply too young to have sex. The consequences of giving in so young can be devastating and have long lasting effects. Don't let a boy talk you into anything you are not ready for! A boy who respects you is one who will not pressure you or guilt you into doing something you are not ready for. If they do, then have nothing to do with them!
Sex should be special between two people who love and respect each other. It shouldn't be taken lightly. Far too often now days it is taken lightly and not treated in the special way it should be. You are giving your body to someone, one of the greatest gifts you can give, so hold on to that gift! You will be glad you did.

I know it's normal to have urges. Your body is going through a lot of changes right now and the hormones are going a little wild! It will settle down after awhile, trust me. In the meantime, find good wholesome activities to keep busy and mind off of things, such as sports, horseback riding, karate, drama, scouts, youth groups, volunteer work. There are so many things you could do! Find something that interests you and gives you the satisfaction that you are doing something that not only benefits you but perhaps others as well. The choices are endless!
Enjoy life, enjoy being a teen. Go out with your friends and have fun. Go to the movies, skating, amusement parks, etc. You're only young once and you want to enjoy it not have to worry about pregnancies and std's, among other things.
Best wishes to you! Stay strong, you can do this! God bless,
April
