In case others are reading this (years later) with a similar problem: this *may* (I'm no doctor) be:
(From May Clinic)
Vasovagal syncope (vay-zoh-VAY-gul SING-kuh-pee) occurs when you faint because your body overreacts to certain triggers, such as the sight of blood or extreme emotional distress. It may also be called neurocardiogenic syncope.
The vasovagal syncope trigger causes your heart rate and blood pressure to drop suddenly. That leads to reduced blood flow to your brain, causing you to briefly lose consciousness.
Vasovagal syncope is usually harmless and requires no treatment. But it's possible you may injure yourself during a vasovagal syncope episode. Your doctor may recommend tests to rule out more serious causes of fainting, such as heart disorders.

IMO, one should consult a medical professional whenever one faints and the cause is not clear.
i completely understand what u are going through. im 16 and twice before ive tried tampons and like you have ended up on the floor. i dont really understand whats going on, but for me it could be the way i am cause i freak out about little things. but even still im trying soo hard to wear them cause its really uncomfy and embarrassing when ur 16 years old and still stuck wearing pads. i can only hope you the best and hope you can over come this. oh and btw, im doing some google research on this to try to figure out whats wrong with me and thats when i came across your comment! :D
What the OP is writing about what happened doesn't sound like toxic shock syndrome which takes awhile to happen. It sounds like this was her very first attempt at using a tampon. Toxic shock syndrome occurs when a tampon is staying inside the woman over a long course of time.
you could have experienced that "toxic shock" syndrome... did you feel nauseated a little bit afterwards?
It could be orthostats. When you stay bent over for a length of time such as 30 seconds, the brain doesn't get enough blood supply, then when you straighten up your head, you pass out or have something called pre-syncope where you almost pass out. Were you trying to insert the tampon by bending over?
oh so your still a virgin? hmm I've heard of a condition where the skin is thicker than it should be and can be very painful during sex and using tampons. If you happen to have that your body could have locked up and made you pass out so that you wouldn't have to feel the pain. Talk to your mom tell her what happened. You may have to go to the doctor about it. If not I suggest not to wear another tampon for a few years.
the hymphen or something i think is what it's called
i dont understamd what layer of skin your talking about.... you sure your putting it in the right hole?...
get a small one......try it with someone like your mom around....
